Sophie Turner and her husband, Joe Jonas, are notorious for keeping their private life private, including how they raise their daughters. Because of this, they make up a growing group of celebrities that prefer not to post pictures of their children on social media. While this can make Turner and Jonas more of a target for tabloids, specifically when they are out with their children, it also allows their little ones to keep their anonymity and make the choice of whether they want to share their personal lives with the world when they get older.
Like most people, however, the Game of Thrones star does have an Instagram account and has had some great moments captured on the platform. More likely than not, Turner has one account that is public and another that is private. But Turner accidentally shared a video of her daughter on Instagram that had to be taken down once the mistake was realized. However, not everyone believes the video was truly posted unintentionally, leaving critics to wonder about the real reason why the video made it to Instagram in the first place.

Sophie Turner Pleaded For Shared Video Of Her Daughter To Be Deleted
Turner has always been one to be an advocate for privacy on social media, especially when it comes to her children. Specifically, because Turner knows what it is like to grow up famous and have zero privacy. As such, when a video of her two-year-old daughter, Willa suddenly appeared on her public account, fans were stunned.
However, they were not stunned enough to not share the video, which led the Do Revenge star to plead via Instagram to fans to delete the shared video immediately.
“Earlier today I made an honest mistake accidentally posting a video of our daughter on instagram stories,” Turner explained. “We have always advocated for our kids’ rights to privacy so sharing this publicly is something that is against anything I stand for.”
Turner went on to say, “Our children deserve the right to grow up out of the public eye, to learn and grow in private. If I ever were to post anything of our kids, know that it is unquestionably a mistake. I would greatly appreciate if anyone who has reposted on any of other platform, please delete the video.”
Given that with normal searches, the video cannot be found, it appears that fans listened to Turner and abided by her wishes. But this does not mean that they did not think she was not hypocritical in her asking to do so.
Why Critics Call Sophie Turner A “Hypocrite” After Her Plea
Turner has asked for privacy for her children before and after her video of Willa made it to Instagram. But this plea is being called hypocritical after the Survive star took a job on the HBO cartoon series, The Prince in which does the voiceover work for Princess Charlotte. A job, that many see as nothing more than mocking the young princess and invading her privacy at the same time.
“I still side eye her for wanting privacy for her children but partaking in a project that mocked [others’] children,” one Reddit user said.
“That God awful show ‘The Prince.’ Like, abolish the monarchy and all that but Jesus, they’re just kids, and they were the butt of so many disgusting ‘jokes.’ Obviously there’s nothing wrong with wanting privacy for your kid, just the hypocrisy of it all.”

A second user stated, “Good for her for protecting her kids, but kind of hypocritical of her to do so since she took part in that God awful show ‘The Prince.’ I mean yeah, the Royal family is trash and all, but they’re kids. George was literally 6 when the show was made, full of awful ‘jokes’.”
“Is this the woman who joined in a satire show about the British royal family centered around 6-year-old prince George?” a third Reddit user asked. “So it’s okay to make fun of other children?”
Clearly, while some fans were understanding of Turner and were happy to delete the video of her daughter from other platforms, others had a hard time finding too much sympathy for the mother of two given what they see as disrespect for other people’s children.
And it was those same people who thought that, perhaps, the video may have been uploaded as a way for Turner to get attention.
Some Critics Think The Video Was A Way For Sophie Turner To Get Attention
Given how quickly Turner took the video of Willa down, there is no telling just how many people saw it or uploaded it to other platforms. Some critics believe that the video was taken down quickly enough that fewer people saw the video than Turner made it out to be.
In fact, had the Time Freak star not mentioned it, critics believe that it may have been a non-issue and that Turner turned the mistake into an issue to get attention.
“What happened, Sophie, she didn’t get enough LIKES?” one Daily Mail reader commented. A second reader added, “Ironic that she’s drawing more attention to her problem.”
“And now everyone knows about it… well done,” a third Daily Mail reader stated.
Many people were cynical about the request Turner made to keep her daughter off of social media. But at the end of the day, celebrity or not, parents just want to protect their children.
And perhaps, despite what critics want to believe, this was all that Turner was doing when she asked that her mistake be scrubbed from the internet as much as possible.
