Season 10 of Southern Charm welcomed newbie Salley Carson to the cast of Charleston socialites. However, when she was announced as a new member of the Bravo series, fans unearthed that the blonde beauty was once engaged and even had a somewhat sccandalous reality TV history.

Salley has mentioned her former fiancé briefly in the new season. In Episode 8, Salley is seen speaking to another newbie, model Molly O’Connell, about getting her breast implants removed after she initially got them for her ex because she believed that’s “what he liked.”

Salley has since opened up a lot more about who exactly her ex-fiancé is and how she “blocked” him from ever speaking to her again.

Southern Charm’s Salley Carson Reveals Her Ex-Fiancé Reached Out To Her Before She Appeared On The Bravo Show

Salley Carson Shared How She Got Breast Implants Because Of The Attention Her Ex-Fiancé Was Giving Other Women

Salley Carson is taking a liking to fans as a new member of Southern Charm Season 10. Although she has weird connections to Taylor Ann Green (she dated her current boyfriend, Gaston Rojas, and slept with her ex, Shep Rose), viewers found it refreshing to see her opening up a lot more about her past, specifically about her failed engagement to a man named Avery Buchholz.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Salley revealed that her ex “definitely reached out when he found out I was on the show.” Having ended their engagement sometime in September 2021, Salley told the outlet that Avery may have believed she was going to spill about their past on a reality TV show after he had allegedly cheated on her.

He was “worried that my whole story line was going to be about him,” Salley shared.

However, that was not the case. “You’re out of my life. You can stay out of it,” she said, adding that after he reached out to her she “blocked” him. “We do not have any [communication].”

In Episode 8 of Season 10, Salley spoke about her ex very briefly. Talking to Molly at a restaurant, she expressed how she felt pressured to get breast implants because “the girls he was giving attention to had bigger breasts and didn’t look like I looked.” Salley admitted to the model that she was planning on removing her breast implants because he was no longer part of her life and she now felt confident in her own skin.

She also told Us Weekly that she had since gotten her implants removed. “I just was very much not myself when I got them in the first place,” she said.

“One day after I kind of found my independence again and my career was going great, and I just bought a house in Charleston, and I just was like, ‘These are not me anymore,’” Salley continued. “I just felt confident in my own body and just wanted to take him out.”

Salley also expressed that she was happy to share her story on reality TV because she knows other women can relate to it. “I think that there’s a lot of women out there that struggle with insecurities and maybe boyfriends or fiancés or husbands that make them feel insecure.”

Salley Carson Appeared On The Bachelor A Month After She Ended Her Engagement To Her Ex-Fiancé

Salley Carson Later Appeared On Bachelor In Paradise

Salley has somewhat of a controversial reality TV history. According to a report by The U.S. Sun, she was engaged to Avery but called off their wedding due to Avery’s infidelity in late August 2021. “It was not a mutual decision, Salley ended it. There was infidelity on his part, he was unfaithful and that’s when things ended for good,” a source reported.

Interestingly, just a month later, she joined Season 26 of The Bachelor to win Clayton Echard’s heart.

Salley and Clayton formed a strong connection right off the bat and Clayton even offered Salley the first rose. However, she was conflicted because she had just ended her engagement. Ultimately, Salley chose not to accept the rose and left the series. In the clip above where she speaks to Clayton one-on-one, she shares, “My heart’s just not ready.”

But, Salley would appear on another Bachelor spin-off a year later. She joined Season 8 of Bachelor in Paradise, but it would, again, be controversial. Salley was accused of seeing her ex-fiancé right before she landed in Mexico, where the show was being filmed. Speaking to the other women, Salley expressed that she met with her ex “out of respect,” but a few cast members found it questionable, as if Salley was only trying to seek out fame rather than love.

Because of all the backlash she faced, she also left the show the same night she arrived at the beach.

Southern Hospitality viewers will also know that she made brief appearances in Season 2. Salley worked at Republic Garden & Lounge as a hostess and connected with Joe Bradley. However, Joe’s good friend and bartender, TJ Dinch, would later inform him that Salley made out with his roommate, Gaston (yes, Taylor’s current beau!) before her date with him. Joe confronted Salley and their short relationship was over.

When Salley was introduced in Season 10, she was seen waking up at 4:30 am to go to work at the hospital where she worked as a spine surgery operator. In a confessional she shared, “People are always shocked when I tell them I control a robot in spine surgery. I’m like, ‘Excuse me? Do I not look like somebody that would do that?'”

It seems that her job may have been how she initially connected to her ex-fiancé, who is a neurosurgeon who specializes in “in adult degenerative scoliosis, complex spine revisions, and minimally invasive spinal procedures,” per his website.

Salley’s former fiancé’s practice is located in Orlando, Florida. His bio reads:

“Dr. Buchholz had a strong interest in spinal disorders throughout his residency, focusing his research and clinical training on minimally invasive spine surgery and advancing those techniques. He had numerous publications and presentations on this topic throughout residency, winning awards for both. After his training at MUSC, he completed a complex spine surgery fellowship at the University of Virginia working with world renowned surgeons Dr. Christopher Shaffrey and Dr. Justin Smith. While at UVA he also completed an AO spine fellowship, winning the national award for best clinical research.”

In her aforementioned interview with Us Weekly, Salley shared that she’s totally moved on from Avery. “There’s just not a world that I would film a reality TV show with my ex-fiancé. Literally never. I would definitely remove myself from that situation.”
