It’s been several years since The Hills went off the air, but Spencer Pratt has done a great job of maintaining his public image. Not only is he a fixture on TikTok, but he also recently competed on Hulu’s Got To Get Out competition series. Now, he is opening up about how he ended up in the bad graces of none other than Lauren Conrad. Spoiler alert: it has to do with his wife, Hedi Montag

Unfortunately, Spencer, 41, and Hedi, 38, were also in the headlines recently after their home became one of the many to be destroyed by the horrific Palisades fires earlier this year.

Spencer recently sat down for an interview on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast where he discussed a wealth of topics. However, one of the most noteworthy moments came when he opened up about what went wrong between him and Lauren, 39.

According to Spencer,  via E! News, “Brody couldn’t fake-date L.C. anymore. He wanted to start getting some real clout. He was out in the club scene, there was a lot of opportunities, and then once the fake dating ended and he wasn’t down for that, she wanted her wing woman back.”

For context, Lauren’s wing woman was Hedi. Spencer explained what went wrong by saying, “The final end game was—they didn’t show this—but she made Heidi go out with her on Valentine’s Day when we were official. Wouldn’t let her leave till like 4 a.m. They’re f–king having breakfast pizza together and [Heidi’s] like, ‘I gotta go back and see Spencer.’ And [Lauren] turned it into this big thing.”

From there, he began to discuss Hedi moving out of the apartment that she and Lauren shared. [Lauren] thought that with Heidi getting in the U-Haul and leaving, she thought she got Heidi off the show[Laguna Beach]. That’s what people don’t get. That was her saying, ‘Bye b—h, you’re off my show.”

Spencer went on to discuss staying on Laguna Beach after Heidi and Lauren stopped living together. He said, “The deal was, ‘You better make them look like the worst people on the earth,’ which we are aware of. They’re, at that point, paying so much you’d be stupid not to go along with it. So that’s what happened.”

Fans can watch Spencer on the full episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast on all platforms.
