Strictly fans question if show is 'running out of ideas' as Halloween Week songs unveiled

Strictly Come Dancing fans claim the BBC series is “failing to bring the Halloween” to this week’s live show.

On Saturday, the remaining contestants are due to take to the ballroom once again for the second themed evening of the series – Halloween Week.

To whet fans’ appetites, the broadcaster published both the songs and dances for each of the celebrities on Tuesday.

It has been revealed that Adam Thomas and his professional partner Luba Mushtuk will use ‘Magic Moments’ by Perry Como to soundtrack their American Smooth routine, whilst Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell will Cha Cha Cha to Della Reese’s ‘Come-On-A-My-House’.

Another couple that will be attempting a Cha Cha Cha this week is Nigel Harman and Katya Jones. However, they will be hoping their performance to ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You’ by KISS can give them the edge.

Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin will Tango to ‘Vampire’ by Olivia Rodrigo while Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Lauren Oakley will take the tempo down with their Viennese Waltz to Seal’s ‘Kiss From A Rose’.

After surviving week five’s dance-off, Zara McDermott and Strictly pro Graziano Di Prima will hope to impress the likes of Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse with their Charleston.

They will be dancing to ‘Jeepers Creepers’, performed by Al Donahue and his Orchestra.

Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington are also doing a Charleston for Halloween Week. The pair will dance theirs to the iconic ‘Murder She Wrote’ TV theme.

Elsewhere, Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe will perform a Tango to INXS’ ‘Need You Tonight’ while Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu take on a Paso Doble to ‘BLACK swan SWAN lake’ by District 78.

Set to bring the fun vibes, Ellie Taylor and Vito Coppola will be doing a Salsa to Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’.

However, fans were quick to spot that there was a distinctive lack of classic Halloween songs for the themed week.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) one viewer said: “The Strictly Halloween songs really aren’t halloweening this year.”

“Strictly are doing Murder She Wrote for Halloween? As much as I like to watch marathons of it on a lazy weekend, are they running out of ideas? I wouldn’t have said it was Halloweeny. Will it be Midsummer Murders next,” said a second.

Another wrote: “#Strictly yet again failing to bring the Halloween to Halloween week. Please take a leaf out of #DWts book!

However, many other X users were thrilled by Layton and Nikita’s upcoming choice of song.

“Layton and (sic) Nikita dancing to ‘Vampire’ by Olivia Rodrigo for Halloween week is PERFECT, let’s goooo,” said one fan.

A second said: “I was literally thinking the other day someone should do a dance to ‘Vampire’ for Halloween week. Also ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ would be my Halloween week song of choice so I’m very happy Queen Ellie is doing that one.”

Strictly Come Dancing’s Halloween Special takes place on Saturday. Tune into BBC One from 6.40pm.
