Mireille Enos, you’re my hero.
Alan Ruck joked that — when married his wife Mireille Enos in 2008 — he used her success to give his career a second act.
The 66-year-old actor, who rose to fame with his role as Cameron in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” admitted that his long career had “gone through some ups and downs.”
“I had some craters,” he told Page Six exclusively at the Season 4 premiere of “Succession” earlier this week. “But I was definitely on an upswing [before being cast in “Succession.”] I kind of coat-tailed on my wife when we first got together.”
Ruck and Enos — who have two kids — originally met in 2005 while starring in the Broadway play “Absurd Person Singular.” At the time, Ruck had just divorced his wife of 21 years, Claudia Stefany, with whom he shares two kids.
The actor further told PageSix that when they first moved to Los Angeles, “everyone” wanted to meet the actress — who is best known for “World War Z” and “The Killing” — and he piggy-backed off those meetings.
“They would say, ‘You know who she’s with? Really? Oh, bring him in for that guy, maybe he’s good for that,’” he recounted. “So, I kind of got a second wind on Mireille’s coattails!”
Ruck conceded that his career was “definitely on an upswing” when he got cast as Logan Roy’s eldest son, Connor Roy, in “Succession” but called the role “one of the nicest things that has ever happened to me.”

Sadly for fans of the HBO drama, the upcoming season will be its final one.
“It’s emotional but it’s the right thing to do. It’s just how it is,” Ruck explained, before noting that he will definitely miss the cast.
“You form a family and these friendships and you get very close and then it has to end,” he said. “That’s the nature of this. I just hope that we’re going to keep in touch, [although] it won’t be the same, we won’t see each other every day.”

When we last left off, Connor Roy was pouring tens of millions of dollars into a quixotic Presidential bid.
Ruck poo-poohed Page Six’s suggestion that Connor’s Presidential campaign could be spun off into a show.
“Yeah, I’m not sure that show would last too long,” he noted. “Maybe a one-hour special, a one-off.”
Other stars from the hit series, attended including Sarah Snook, who proudly revealed her first pregnancy, and Alexander Skarsgård, who confirmed the birth of his first child with girlfriend Tuva Novotny.
Also at the star-studded premiere were Anne Hathaway, Oscar Isaac, Matthew Broderick, Fran Lebowitz, Ellen Burstyn, Rupert Friend, Patrick Wilson and Katie Couric.
