Since Survivor has been around for so long, new fans who are figuring out which seasons to watch first have a lot to catch up on. Most obviously, Jeff Probst’s beloved reality show has featured many fantastic seasons that included great winners and some of the best players ever. Fans who know who was medically evacuated first and that some former players have refused to return will also know that Survivor has also had some truly incredible feuds.

During Survivor 48, there was another fascinating feud involving Mary Zheng and Saiounia “Sai” Hughley. During a recent interview, Mary revealed that she now has no relationship with Sai after their feud also took place on social media after the show.

Mary Zheng Revealed That She Currently Wants Nothing To Do With Saiounia “Sai” Hughley

During and after a season of Survivor airs, CBS controls who the cast can be interviewed by. To be clear, this is extremely typical as the networks want to control the press about their show during and in the immediate aftermath.

As a result of that situation, it wasn’t until July 2025 that Mary Zheng was able to record a lengthy interview about her Survivor 48 interview. During that discussion that took place weeks after Survivor 48 finished airing, Mary had many fascinating things to say.

Since Mary’s feud with Saiounia “Sai” Hughley was so compelling during Survivor 48, it makes sense that there were interesting revelations about the two of them. As it turns out, Mary revealed that she now has nothing to do with Sai after feuding with her on the show and on social media.

In July 2025, Mary made an appearance on the “Rob Has a Podcast” show “We Know Survivor” which can be listened to on Apple Podcasts.

During that podcast appearance, Mary spoke extensively about her relationship with Sai during Survivor 48. After being asked, Mary also revealed that she and Sai had nothing to do with each other at the time of that interview.

Unfortunately for Mary and Sai, their bad blood clearly creates awkward situations for them.

During the podcast discussion, the interviewer brought up the fact that the cast of Survivor 48 reunited to watch their season’s reunion together. In response to that subject, Mary revealed how she handled being in the same room as Sai since she didn’t want anything to do with her former tribemate.

During the “Rob Has a Podcast” interview, Mary stated that she actively avoided talking to Sai when Survivor 48’s cast reunited to watch the finale.

Mary then went on to explain that she had gone even further to avoid feeling like she had to interact with Sai.

During the podcast interview, Mary stated that she left X, which she referred to as Twitter, after Sai called her on that social media network.

While that comment didn’t specifically state that she left X to get away from Sai, she went on to be more explicit.

While talking to the podcast host, Mary explained that she quickly got a lot of followers on TikTok after she left X. Then, Mary described how she felt about the drama with Sai pushing her off X.

If even that wasn’t clear enough, the interviewer asked Mary if “she threw’ her “onto another social media platform” while they were talking about Sai. In response, Mary instantly confirmed that is what happened. “Yeah.”

It is worth noting that Mary wasn’t nasty about Sai during the podcast interview. Instead, Mary stated that she hoped that Sai lives a happy life going forward.

“I mean, I feel like it’s just kind of like a live [situation]. At least, that’s my that’s my MO… I mean, I hope she has everything that she wants in life. I hope that she’s happy, and, I am sending love and life from a distance.”

The History Of Saiounia “Sai” Hughley And Mary Zheng’s Feud On And Off Survivor 48

Throughout Survivor 48, there was only one moment when Saiounia “Sai” Hughley and Mary Zheng seemed to be on the same page. Instead, their relationship was mostly defined by things like Sai following Mary around so she couldn’t find an advantage. Later in the season, the bad blood continued when Mary was the one who did the work to get Sai voted out.

After fans saw Mary get voted out, the feud continued in a new medium. During a May 2025 TVLine interview, Mary didn’t hold back while talking about how bad her relationship with Sai was during the game.

“We had a very contentious relationship, but after the game, Sai called me and apologized, and I accepted her apology. Sai made my life a f****** living hell out there, and I want to clear up: I was not having fun at all being chased around the island. I felt like I was prey. That was not fun.

I lied to myself. I wasn’t intentionally lying to other people. I was lying to myself when I said I was having fun. I knew that I had to be mentally strong. I did not allow myself to feel the isolation, the fear, the sadness, the loneliness that I felt out there, because I lied to myself and said I was having fun. I did a little mental jiu-jitsu on myself because I knew that if I wanted to make it to the next day, wake up and have the strength to keep fighting, I was gonna have to gaslight myself into thinking that everything was OK, even though it was so not OK.”

After Mary made those remarks and commented about her former tribemate during another interview, Sai responded. Alongside screengrabs of the interview comments about her, Sai expressed her frustrations with Mary in an X post.

Sai also posted a video on X on the same day in which she seemed to be calling out Mary without stating her by name. Alongside the video, Sai included the following caption: “STOP trying me pls . Let’s keep it cute on these internet streets ❤️”
