Survivor’s Rupert Boneham Reveals Which Other Reality Shows He Would Want To Compete On [Exclusive]

Since Survivor premiered in the year 2000, a lot has changed in the reality show ecosystem. While new fans of Jeff Probst’s show who are still figuring out which seasons to watch first won’t realize it, former Survivor players have a lot more opportunities these days. Many former players who didn’t want to return to Survivor and risk being medically evacuated have gone on to compete on other reality shows.

Even though Rupert Boneham isn’t one of Survivor’s winners, he competed in some of the best seasons and became immensely popular. As a result, it seems extremely likely that the producers of other reality shows would love to cast Rupert. With that in mind, it is fascinating to look at what Rupert exclusively told TheThings about the other reality shows he would like to compete on.

Rupert Boneham Told TheThings Which Reality Shows He Would Want To Compete On

In July 2025, TheThings journalist Matthew Thomas interviewed the Survivor Hall of Famer, Rupert Boneham. During that conversation, Rupert revealed that he was “pissed” and “hurt” that he wasn’t considered for Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans. Since Rupert wasn’t contacted about the landmark season, TheThings asked him about which other reality shows he would be interested in competing on. In response, Rupert quickly brought up his desire to appear on History’s reality show Alone, even though he recognized how difficult that would be.

“I’ve always said that I’d love to go out and play Alone. Now I know it would kick my butt, but oh my gosh. I used to say in Survivor, if I could be out here by myself, I’d never leave. I could feed myself. I could clothe myself. I could take care of myself. I could shelter. Alone, I think about a lot. I watch Alone.”

After Rupert expressed his interest in going on Alone, he was asked about competing on Deal or No Deal Island. After TheThings suggested that getting to spend a lot of time outdoors and compete in competitions would be perfect for Rupert, he said, “Exactly right.” Rupert then explained that he would say yes to Deal or No Deal Island if he was asked to compete on the show.

“I love doing the little competitions. So, if Deal or No Deal Island came knocking, I sure would say, ‘Yes.'”

Over the last several years, several Survivor legends have competed on The Traitors. As a result, TheThings asked Rupert if he would be interested in competing on The Traitors. At first, Rupert responded by explaining that he and his wife, Laura Boneham, are fans of The Traitors. “My wife and I have been watching The Traitors, and love the show.” Rupert then stated he would probably compete on The Traitors if asked. However, Rupert expressed some trepidation about The Traitors’ format trapping competitors inside.

“I probably would play The Traitors. I don’t know. It’s getting a little closer to, like, Big Brother where you’re kind of trapped in a house with a bunch of people. You do get to get out and see a little of the countryside. And I will say reality TV is a great way to see other parts of the world. But, The Traitors is getting a little closer to Big Brother which just kinda traps you in the house.”

As Survivor legends have been competing on many different reality shows over the last few years, Rupert Boneham has notably not made a TV return. Considering Rupert was the most popular Survivor player ever, that seems shocking. However, it makes more sense once you know that Rupert exclusively told TheThings that he has already been contacted about competing on other reality shows.

“I’ve had a few production companies call.”

While Rupert didn’t reveal which shows he had been contacted about, that begs an obvious question. If Rupert has been contacted about making a reality show return, why hasn’t it happened yet? While talking to TheThings, Rupert described two factors that have held him back from competing on reality TV again.

“I’m not good at playing all the games that you gotta play with, getting back out on reality TV. And, you know, sometimes, I think I may mess myself up on them.”

While there is no way for fans to know if Rupert will make a reality show return anytime soon, the fact that he has been contacted means that there is still hope.
