I know how lucky I am that you were born.” Meanwhile, one person notably didn’t appear to acknowledge the occasion — Lively’s former BFF Taylor Swift, who reportedly let the day pass without so much as a text. Ouch.
Blake Lively reportedly hoped Taylor Swift would make even the smallest gesture on her birthday — but according to sources cited by gossip journalist Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack, that message never arrived. “Blake was absolutely hoping Taylor would reach out. A text. Flowers. Even two words: ‘Happy birthday.’ Nothing came. That silence said everything,” one insider claimed. The longtime friends, once seen as one of Hollywood’s tightest celebrity circles, have allegedly been distant since Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni, a controversy insiders say risked complicating Swift’s carefully protected public image. If “The Shallows” actor was still clinging to the idea of a reconciliation, Swift’s apparent birthday silence may have made the divide feel far more final.

“Blake kept telling herself there was a path back,” a source alleged. “She thought time would cool everything down and Taylor would eventually remember how much they loved each other.” But those close to the situation now suggest the “Bad Blood” singer has little interest in repairing the friendship, leaving Lively to slowly accept the reality of their estrangement. “Blake finally understands she cannot force Taylor back into her life,” another insider said. “You can ignore a lot of signs. The “Gossip Girl” alum and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, were reportedly absent from Swift’s lavish July wedding to Travis Kelce — a notable omission given the pair’s history with the superstar. Swift and Lively had been close since 2015, and Swift is said to be godmother to the couple’s children. According to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail after the wedding guest list made headlines, Lively was wounded by the exclusion, especially because another former close friend reportedly did make the cut. “It feels bad to be excluded like that. She had sort of hoped that despite everything, their history was enough that they’d be included, but that’s not the way it went,” the insider said. Lively was even said to have selected an outfit for the ceremony, believing there was still time for the two women to mend fences before Swift’s big day.
“That’s how convinced she was — and still is — that this friendship can be saved,” another insider told Naughty But Nice in May. Lively also reportedly marked Swift’s 36th birthday in December 2025, despite the growing distance between them. “She didn’t expect anything back,” a source told Rob Shuter’s Substack at the time. “She just couldn’t let the day go by without saying something.” Rather than post publicly on Instagram, the “Age of Adaline” star allegedly chose a private message out of respect for Swift. “It was very personal, not for show. Blake wanted to acknowledge the day without any pressure or expectation,” the source added. Whether Swift responded — or left the message unanswered — remains unknown.
