Michael Rubin appears to entertain the notion that attendees might struggle to select between his renowned party and the anticipated wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce over the July Fourth weekend. As the mind behind Fanatics, Rubin hosts the annual star-filled White Party on this holiday. Yet, this year, the bustling atmosphere of New York City has prompted a change in his plans to accommodate a grander event. Although he has previously welcomed a roster of celebrities, the wedding seems poised to overshadow his gathering.
Rubin rescheduled his extravaganza to take place on Wednesday, July 1—coincidentally on the eve of Swift and Kelce’s nuptials slated to unfold in the Big Apple. He maintains, however, that this decision was not influenced by a need to dodge their celebration. “We considered various dates. We were certainly conscious of the wedding date, but it wasn’t the reason for our change,” he clarified in an interview with People. “Nevertheless, we didn’t want to put our guests in a position where they had to choose. The White Party has always drawn a crowd, regardless of when it’s held, and it promises to be an exceptional event.”
Many netizens found the notion laughable. “Laugh out loud funny he thinks people would have had a hard time choosing between the two events. Rule of thumb. When you move your event that tells you what event people were choosing,” Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy posted to X. “Hard choice between the two events? Apparently not. Moving your event is a pretty strong market survey,” another X user pointed out. While there are many far-fetched rumors about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding we’re not falling for, Rubin’s claims may need a spot on that list.

While the timing of Rubin’s White Party in the Hamptons had to be adjusted, he is still eagerly anticipating the excitement of July 2026 in New York City. “I’ll share this—New York will become a hub of stellar activity from July 1 through July 19. The city hasn’t experienced anything like what’s to come,” he remarked to People. Despite the reality of yielding to the prominence of Swift and Kelce’s wedding, Rubin still positions his event high on the list of major happenings across the metropolis.
“There’s the White Party, considered the top event of its kind, followed by [Swift’s] marriage celebrations shortly after, and then Fanatics Fest. Not to mention, the World Cup’s climax right here in New York,” he noted. Interestingly, Rubin omitted mention of America 250, where Times Square will host its grandest Fourth of July celebration, complete with the iconic ball drop occurring eight times.
Rubin anticipates a large turnout for Fanatics Fest, which runs from July 16-19, aligning with the World Cup Finals. “What will set this year apart is its synchronization with the World Cup Final. The globe’s biggest stars will flock to Fanatics Fest… it is destined to be simply unforgettable,” he expressed. Yet, prior to all this, Madison Square Garden will welcome a star-studded wedding, although Rubin, along with others, may not receive an invitation to Swift’s lavish affair. As for Blake Lively’s attendance, it’s still an open question.
