Teddi Mellencamp defended her choice to go horseback riding after her recent brain surgery, and she also thanked her dad, John Mellencamp, for his support.

Last month, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum revealed that doctors found tumors in her brain. She underwent surgery to remove the biggest tumors, and she later explained that physicians found five more.

On a recent Instagram post, Teddi defended her choice to horseback ride after the surgery.

“Thank you all for the support. I am feeling great and got approval from my doctors to ride today,” she said, via Page Six. “This makes my heart and soul happy. If I see you at the show today and you have the urge to try to tell me not to I kindly ask you refrain.”

She chose Christina Aguilera’s song “Fighter” to play over the post.

“I unknowingly rode with huge tumors in my brain for 6 months and those big ones are gone now. When you are sick or have cancer, your mental health is very important. I must keep going and give myself joy and goals,” she added. “I am going to always fight to be my best and find ways to smile and enjoy my life. Thanks for coming along this journey with me. I am in no place for negativity or discouragement.”

The star thanked her dad, singer John Mellencamp, for believing in her and sharing that he knows she “can do it.”

“Cried with happiness that I have your support,” she said.

In a photo she shared on Instagram, Teddi rode with her horse named Toad. “My baby boy would do anything for me,” she wrote over the image. “I would do the same for him. Horse of a lifetime. Toad thank you for making me feel alive.”

Before she went riding, she also shared a video explaining that she wouldn’t wear her wig that day.

In a March 6 Instagram post, Teddi revealed that they found more tumors.

“Update from my scans today: I have multiple tumors in my brain that weren’t able to be removed via surgery. I also have 2 tumors in my lung. These are all metastases of my melanoma,” she said at the time. “The doctors are hopeful that immunotherapy will effectively treat them.”

“I am feeling positive— that I will win this battle, that I got this wig (I like the short hair, just not the bald spots), and that I can remember all of Angelina’s kids’ names,” she went on. “Now, as [Andy Cohen] would say: with all due… f*** off, cancer!”
