Teresa Giudice has opened up about the lessons she’s gleaned from her marriages and pondered whether her family might have remained intact had they not become part of Real Housewives of New Jersey. She also candidly expressed her frustration over the legal troubles she faced with her ex-husband Joe Giudice.

The couple’s legal saga began when both pleaded guilty to bank fraud, leading to prison sentences. Teresa reflected on the situation, explaining that her involvement stemmed from signing off on documents at Joe’s request, trusting him to use her credit. Following his release, Joe was deported to Italy, his birthplace. This separation ultimately led to their divorce, and Teresa has since remarried, tying the knot with Luis Ruelas.

During an episode of Casual Chaos, her daughter Gia Giudice inquired about the insights Teresa gained from her two marriages.

“Communication,” Teresa responded thoughtfully. “I didn’t have that much with your dad. But with Luis, we communicate. I mean, you see it… It’s so different [with Luis].”

“Yeah, definitely two different people,” Gia agreed. “But I guess you got to have the macho guy to then get the, you know, the sweet guy, so. You got to try them all out … I don’t think it’s intentional, but I think a lot of girls when they’re younger are more attracted to like the macho bad boy, and then obviously, you know, sometimes it doesn’t turn out to be the best decision. Because then sometimes the macho bad boy gets in trouble.”

Gia said Luis is “not Dad.”

“Like Luis didn’t get in trouble, you know, get deported,” said Gia. “Do you think if we were never on Housewives that our family would still be together, like Dad not being deported and like you and your brother still being close?”

“Oh definitely,” Teresa answered. “But I don’t want to go back in time because you could say woulda, coulda, shoulda … Do I feel like I was made an example of? Absolutely. Absolutely. Because like I said, your father had a partner, and he didn’t go to jail, and he should have gone to jail. So that’s what pissed me off the most … What pisses me off is that all three of us should have went to jail.”

“But I don’t know if our marriage would have lasted,” she added. “Because if it would have lasted, it would have lasted.”

Gia suggested that past “infidelity” also played a role in the split.
