The Chrisley Family Announces New Reality TV Series — While Parents Todd and Julie Are Still In Prison

A new show about the Chrisley family is in the works! The docuseries, The Untitled Chrisleys Project, will premiere later this year and was announced by Lifetime on May 21. It will follow the lives of Chase Chrisley, Savannah Chrisley, Grayson Chrisley, Chloe Chrisley, and Nanny Faye Chrisley.

There was no mention of Todd and Julie Chrisley? This is because they are currently behind bars, serving prison time for bank fraud and tax evasion. Todd will spend 12 years in prison and 16 months on probation, and Julie will serve seven years in prison, followed by 16 months of probation. While incarcerated, their daughter, Savannah, has to step up, including taking over the care of her two younger siblings.

The Chrisley family rose to fame with their reality TV show, Chrisley Knows Best, which aired on the USA Network for 10 seasons from 2014 to 2023. Their lives are very different now, but what can viewers expect from the upcoming show? It has been announced that Bunim/Murray Productions will produce it.

“The Chrisleys don’t know best anymore, but they’re doing their best to be there for each other,” a synopsis states, per People. “The family faces the challenge of carrying on the Chrisley name and legacy on their own with only phone calls and brief visits with their incarcerated parents.”

Savannah has custody of her younger siblings, but she has also taken an interest in politics, as the statement claims she is “fighting tirelessly for a Presidential pardon to free her parents.” Chase will also feature in the show, with a focus on his relationship with his girlfriend and his business. The statement continues to address how the Chrisleys are “exposing the raw truth of their lives — past and present — and the reality is far different from what audiences have seen before.”

What Has The Family Said About Returning To Reality TV?

Savannah has been vocal about her parents’ incarceration, and the comments she has made suggest that she is hopeful that once they have served their time, things will get better, and they will come together again as a family. However, it will not happen without putting in the work and undergoing therapy.

“When they come home, I have already told them that over the past two and a half years, and if they come home thinking they are going to rescue individuals and acting like nothing’s happened, then I’m out,” Savannah said on her Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley podcast May 13. “I have told them that. And Mama has said, ‘That’s not happening.'”

She continued, “And I told them, if we’re going to actually all come back together, there needs to be an intensive week-long therapy that we all go to and hash everything out. Cause that’s the only way that anything is going to be resolved.” Barring a pardon or some other major update on the case, it will still be a long time before Todd and Julie are released and return home. Perhaps the family’s new docuseries will reveal more about how the Chrisleys will be able to keep their family together and what their future looks like.
