Fans of dance competition reality TV series Dancing With The Stars have been eagerly waiting for the latest cast announcements. With Season 34 soon to premiere, long-time viewers of the show are curious which celebrities will be paired up with their favorite dance pros before hitting the ballroom floor.
So far, there have only been two celebrities confirmed as participants for Season 34. One of them, Robert Irwin, is the son of wildlife expert and TV legend Steve Irwin, a figure who is nostalgic for many today. With a new potential cast member being hinted at, it seems another nostalgic TV figure might be headed for the stage.
Bart Johnson Is Rumored To Be A Season 34 Contestant
This past week, rumors began swirling about a former actor from the High School Musical franchise joining Season 34 of DWTS. The whispers began when one of the show’s dancing pros, Britt Stewart, posted a video on her social media of her dancing to the song “Get’cha Head in the Game” from the first film.
Though the song in question was originally performed by the character Troy Bolton (portrayed by Zac Efron), the rumors are that a different person might be her future partner. This is because Bart Johnson, who played both Zac’s father in the films and also the school’s coach, commented on Britt’s video with a not-so-subtle remark:
This seems like a great video to drop to introduce your next season partner 🏀🐾
Bart is a huge fan of the Dancing With The Stars franchise and apparently has been running a self-campaign to join the show for a few years now, posting about his desire to be cast on his social media. If he’s indeed confirmed for this season, no doubt being so vocal about it would have helped it become a reality.
Britt Herself Appeared In High School Musical
The pairing of Britt and Bart would be a significant one in another way: Britt shared on social media that, years ago, she actually served as one of the backup dancers in the film. “Was not expecting this remix, but here we are!” she even wrote as the caption for her dancing video. Posting herself dancing to the song, then, may not be a hint about who her partner is at all.
Still others who saw the post speculated that Britt’s partner may not be Zac, but another one of his relatives:
Why do I feel like this is foreshadowing Dylan Efron as her partner this season?
For his part, Zac’s brother Dylan has been all over the reality TV scene lately. He recently appeared on The Traitors, where he secured his win alongside other reality TV icons like Gabby Windey.
Joining the cast of Season 34, then, might be the next step in Dylan’s successful reality TV career. Only time will tell whether Dylan’s expansion into other TV shows or Bart’s determination to join the dance competition proves to be the more successful campaign. The latest season of the show is slated to premiere sometime in the fall.
