Alex Jones, presenter of The One Show, shared an emotional response after hearing Sara Cox’s heartfelt update on her BBC Children in Need challenge.

Sara Cox, a Radio 2 host, is currently undertaking an ambitious 135-mile run through four counties—Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, and West Yorkshire—to raise money for the charity.

On Wednesday, November 12, Sara was visibly moved when she discovered that her fundraising efforts had surpassed the £1 million mark, admitting she felt “broken” by the experience.

Later that evening on The One Show, Alex expressed how deeply touched she was while listening to Sara on the radio, according to Wales Online.

During a conversation about the radio host’s journey with Angellica Bell, her co-presenter on the BBC show, Alex remarked, “We just need to talk about Sara for a minute.”

“Did you hear her on Radio 2 this morning?” enquired the star. “I had to pull over because I was in floods of tears. She is amazing.”

She added: “If you’re watching Sara, good luck, we are so behind you.”

Earlier that day, Sara had chatted with her DJ friend Scott Mills on the radio about her progress with the demanding challenge, which will see her complete the equivalent of five marathons over five days to generate funds.

Scott informed the star about the fundraising progress, leaving Sara in tears as she discovered she had accumulated more than £1,002,869 thus far.

“Oh my God!” she responded, appearing astonished to discover that she had surpassed the million mark. “That is amazing. Thank you. You’ve completely broken me. Everybody who has donated, thank you so much.

“I am so proud of you,” said Scott, who sounded emotional himself as he praised his colleague for what she had managed to achieve.

“I can’t believe it,” Sara admitted as she brushed tears from her eyes. “That is so generous. Thank you so much. Every fiver, every tenner… it all makes a massive difference.”
