Gwyneth Paltrow hinted that infidelity may have led to her three-year romance with Ben Affleck imploding despite her “love” of his bedroom skills.
The alleged downfall of the exes’ relationship, which spanned from 1997 to 2000, is broken down in Amy Odell’s forthcoming book about the Goop founder, “Gwyneth: The Biography.”
“Their physical chemistry couldn’t overcome his self-destructive impulses, which may have even included cheating on her,” the author claims, per an expert obtained by People.
“After they broke up, Gwyneth said, ‘I love men, even though they’re lying, cheating scumbags,’” Odell alleges.
According to Odell, when Paltrow and Affleck, both 52, started dating, the latter “was struggling with alcoholism and a gambling habit.”
However, the Marvel star was allegedly attracted to the actor’s “intellect.”
“Her friends had reservations about him, because he didn’t always reciprocate her affection,” Odell claims.
“He at times seemed more interested in playing video games with the guys at his house than being with Gwyneth.”
“She spoke openly about how much she enjoyed their sex life. She told [makeup artist and her friend Kevy] Aucoin one day that she loved when Affleck [engaged in a certain sex act].”
Reps for Affleck and Paltrow weren’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.
During their relationship, Paltrow and Affleck starred in the 1998 drama “Shakespeare in Love” and the 2000 romantic comedy “Bounce.”
The “Iron Man” star previously talked about her romance with the “Argo” star, telling Howard Stern in 2015 that he wasn’t “in a good place in his life to have a girlfriend” when they dated, per “Entertainment Tonight.”
“I think [my parents] appreciated how he’s super intelligent and he’s really, really talented and so funny, but he was not in a good place in his life to have a girlfriend,” she said. “I think they were OK with the two of us not being together.”
Paltrow also compared her ex-fiancé Brad Pitt, whom she dated from 1994 to 1997, and Affleck in the bedroom during an episode of “Call Her Daddy” in 2023.
“That is really hard,” the health guru told host Alexandra Cooper. “Because Brad was like the sort of major chemistry, love of your life, kind [of hookup]. And then Ben was, like, technically excellent.”
After dating Affleck, Paltrow went on to marry her first husband, Chris Martin, in 2003. However, they split in 2016. She and her current husband, Brad Falchuk, tied the knot in 2016.
The “Gone Girl” star was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018 and Jennifer Lopez from 2022 to 2025.
