The trailer for The Kardashians season 6 dropped in January 2025, and it showed Lamar Odom making a surprise return. He and Khloé Kardashian married in 2009, but in 2013, the former couple had called it quits. With Lamar popping up in season 6, fans are curious about his and Khloé’s breakup.

Why Did Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom Break Up?

Khloé and Lamar kicked off their whirlwind romance after meeting at an afterparty in August 2009. Within a month, Lamar had proposed and the two wed at family friend Irving Azoff’s house in Beverly Hills.

The two seemed like a match made in heaven, but in 2013, they were faced with Lamar’s cheating scandal, rumors of Lamar struggling with an addiction problem and a subsequent DUI arrest. In December of that same year, Khloé officially filed for divorce. The divorce papers weren’t signed for over a year, but in 2015, the former couple submitted their papers to the courts.

Lamar Odom Had a Near-Fatal Overdose in 2015

In October 2015, Lamar was found unconscious inside a Nevada brothel after using cocaine and sexual performance enhancing drugs and was rushed to the hospital. He slipped into a coma for four days. Even though both Khloé and Lamar had signed the divorce papers in July of that year, they had yet to be entered into the court, making the two still legally married. Khloé was in charge of all of Lamar’s medical decisions and she decided to call off the divorce due to the situation.

When Lamar awoke in the hospital, Khloé was by his side, and it was Khloé’s presence that clued Lamar in to how bad the situation at hand was.

“My ex-wife was there in the room with me,” Lamar said in an essay he wrote for The Players’ Tribune in 2017. “After all the s–t I had done, I was surprised to see her. Honestly, that’s when I knew that I was probably in bad shape.”

After Lamar recovered, Khloé filed for divorce a second time in May 2016, and in December of that same year, their divorce was finalized.

Are Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom Back Together?

Khloe and Lamar are not back together, but his appearance in an upcoming season of the famous family’s Hulu show had fans thinking there was a chance.

In the trailer for The Kardashians season 6, which will premiere on February 6, 2025, Khloé told the cameras during a confessional, “I honestly think timing is everything.”

The next clip showed the mom of two telling her family, “You guys are never going to believe who I met with,” before a quick shot of a man’s shoe stepping out from a car followed up by Lamar walking in with a bouquet of flowers.

Viewers then saw her sister Kim Kardashian exclaiming that “this is insane,” while mom, Kris Jenner, said through tears, “That was the love of her life.”

It’s unclear if Kris was referring to Khloé and Lamar with that sentiment, but the editors definitely wanted watchers to think that.

“I don’t know this person anymore,” Khloé said as Kris added in a separate scene, “I’m devastated for my child.”

The scene hinted that a reunion between Khloé and her ex might be in the works, but Khloé’s frustration with the situation seemed clear.

“It’s the truth!” she yelled. “The truth hurts one time. A lie hurts 7,000 times.”
