Alaskan Bush People Stars Rain and Noah's Feud: Why They Were Fighting

Alaskan Bush People star Rain Brown made headlines in April 2025 for her arrest for first-degree burglary, first-degree malicious mischief and criminal trespass alongside husband Josiah Lorton (both parties have denied wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to their charges). Her arrest came less than one year after the reality star’s legal battle with brother Noah Brown amid their seemingly years-long feud. In Touch breaks down why the siblings were fighting, what happened in their court battle and more.

Noah Brown Accuses Rain Brown of Stalking and Threatening Him

Noah and his wife, Rhain Brown (née Alisha), filed a petition for order of protection against Rain (real name: Merry Christmas Kathryn Raindrop Brown) on August 5, 2024, according to The U.S. Sun. The couple asked for “protection from someone who has committed unlawful harassment” and accused Rain of “stalking,” as well as “threat of violence including malicious and intentional threat or presence of firearm/weapon causing substantial emotional distress.”

Noah cited several alleged incidents with his sister in the court docs, including a July 2022 incident where Rain allegedly “said something along the lines of, ‘My life would be so much easier if you were dead, if only I wouldn’t get caught, I think that my gun is in my room,’” the outlet reported.

In a separate May 2023 incident, Noah claimed that he was helping his family move horses to their North Star ranch and noticed that one of the horses was malnourished. “Because Raindrop and Snowbird [Brown] wouldn’t listen to me on how to properly transport the animals, one of the horses fell in the trailer and couldn’t get back up on her own,” he alleged in the docs, according to the publication.

Noah continued, “When I was telling them what we needed to do to help the horse stand, [Rain] said, ‘Just stop!! We don’t need your help. I would rather the horse die than listen to you! I will kill it myself!! Now go wait in your truck or I will get my gun right now!’ I waited at my truck the rest of the time, I found out the next day that the horse died.”

Additionally, Noah accused Rain of “using cocaine and meth and consuming alcohol.” He cited an alleged incident in December 2023 where his sister allegedly offered their mother, Ami Brown, cocaine to treat a migraine or headache.

Noah and Rhain — who announced their split in January 2025 — requested that Rain give up all firearms and be restrained from obtaining more weapons. They also asked for Rain to have “no attempts to have any contact, including non-physical contact, directly, indirectly or through third parties” and to be unable to come within 1,000 feet of the protected parties.

The couple also requested that Rain be barred from “posting any disparaging information online regarding any of the protected persons.”

Rain Brown Responds to Noah Brown’s Restraining Order Request

While Rain did not file her own court paperwork, she reportedly responded to Noah’s filing on social media. The TV personality shared a since-deleted Instagram Reel addressing the situation in December 2024, according to Soap Opera Spy.

“Honestly, his little sister who struggles with mental health and su!c!dial thoughts should be the last person he would attack,” Rain reportedly captioned her video. “Just saying. Also the song is fu@& all those perfect people. Have a great day everyone! And remember, don’t let anybody make you feel worthless because God and Jesus think you are perfect. I only pray he heals from whatever is making him lash out. Sorry, you don’t like me anymore @noah. Merry Christmas anyway.”

Noah Brown’s Restraining Order Request Is Denied

Noah’s restraining order request was denied in September 2024, In Touch confirmed via online records.

“The petition lacks sufficient information and is unsupported by a properly [submitted] declaration,” the denial paperwork read, according to The U.S. Sun. “Petition is essentially blank with references to ‘see declaration of Noah Brown.’”

The paperwork also stated that the “allegations pertain to incidents that are too remote in time to warrant issuance of a TRO without notice to the respondent. So, simply resubmitting with declarations amended to correct the errors, the name of the declarant, will produce the same result. There must be sufficient information to support the petition for a TRO to issue or for a hearing to be set.”

Noah and Rain did not appear to refile their request.

Noah Brown Accuses Rain Brown and Mom Ami Brown of Abusing Meth

On April 7, 2025, a welfare check was conducted on Ami and Rain after Noah called the police and accused his mom and sister of abusing meth.

“Noah Brown reported the following: Mother is ‘couch surfing’ with her daughter Brown, Merry (Rain) and daughter’s aggressive boyfriend Lorton, Josiah at a cabin in Liar’s Cove,” court paperwork obtained by The U.S. Sun read. “[Noah] has tried contacting his mother after receiving a ‘disjointed message’ last night and heard she has been drinking a lot and she is now taking meth that was given by Merry and Josiah.”

Noah claimed that Ami was “off her meds” and that her health was “deteriorating.” He also alleged that Rain was “not allowing” their mother to take her medications

“Lorton also has guns and is not supposed to have them,” the paperwork continued.

Noah was contacted by officers on April 8, 2025. They told him they tried to get in contact with Ami, but they only learned that she “might be” with Rain and Josiah. A man who was believed to have met Rain and Josiah told officers that the couple “had a large ‘diaper bag’ full of pills,” according to the report.

Rain Brown and Husband Josiah Lorton Arrested for Burglary and Malicious Mischief

Rain and Josiah were arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree malicious mischief on April 11, 2025, In Touch confirmed at the time. The Discovery Channel alum was also charged with second-degree criminal trespass. The couple was booked into the Okanogan County jail in Washington State. They were both later released without bail on April 14, 2025.

While the details of what led to their arrest were not revealed at the time, In Touch confirmed via court docs on May 2, 2025, that they were taken into police custody after they allegedly stole $75,000 in cash, guns and other items from Josiah’s uncle Jason Ayert.

Rain appeared in court via Zoom on April 28, 2025, where she pleaded not guilty to all charges. Josiah also pleaded not guilty to all charges, and both parties are slated to appear in court again in May 2025.

Rain spoke out after the arrest on Instagram on April 19, 2025, although it’s unclear if she was referring to the incident.

“This is a bible verse I give to ya’ll. Judge not lest ye be judged. For with what judgment, ye judge, ye shall be judged,” her post read.

In the caption, she added, “It hurts my heart that my rainbows would choose to believe the lies that my old manager who stole $43,000 from me and abused me instead of maybe thinking, ‘Oh no who is saying this about Rain? Not, ‘Wow what a waste.’ It deeply hurts my heart. With all this said, I hope y’all will stick around to hear my side of the story. God bless y’all.”
