Priscilla and Elvis were still close and had just talked a few days before he died on August 16, 1977, from a heart attack.

“I had just talked to him two nights before and to get that call, Joe Esposito called me and said ‘Cilla, Elvis is dead,’” she revealed to Piers Morgan in November 2023. “I just yelled … I thought he was kidding and then when I found out it was true, I went to my bedroom and cried.”

“My biggest fear was Lisa – how do I tell her? She was only nine at the time,” Priscilla recalled. “I just told her we were going to Graceland, we were going to go see daddy, but daddy won’t be you know, daddy will be resting.”

She added, “I’ve never actually told this before because it’s been hard, I said look he’s going to go to sleep for a while, and she goes ‘WilI be able to see him?’ and I said yes you’ll be able to see him.”

Elvis was buried at his beloved Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee. Two years after his death, Priscilla became the executor of his estate. She turned Graceland into a popular tourist attraction that remains a destination for Elvis fans.

Sadly, Lisa Marie died on January 12, 2023, due to complications from a bariatric surgery years prior. She’s buried at Graceland next to her father.
