Since The Traitors has become such a great reality show, fans are extremely interested in how players can win the game. As a result, fans have opinions about whether “Boston” Rob Mariano deserves his reputation and about Tony Vlachos’ early exit. Those same fans who love The Traitors’ most memorable players also have opinions about which former Survivor players should join the cast. Those viewers are even so passionate that Bob the Drag Queen once told fans to “get over it” when they were mad at him.
Since there is often so much interest in the strategy, some fans overlook personal things like who Lord Ivar Mountbatten’s family is and about Alan Cumming’s dog. After becoming the first wrestler to compete on The Traitors, with hopefully more to come later, Nikki Garcia revealed an extremely personal fact about her that ruined her game.
The Traitors’ Nikki Garcia Revealed An Extremely Personal Reason She Was Banished
Throughout the early episodes of The Traitors’ third season, it seemed like Nikki Garcia wasn’t in any peril. Then, Nikki’s game hit a major stumbling block when she was one of a trio of Faithfuls who the Traitors forced to lay in caskets as they awaited the potential of being “murdered.” As a result of her reaction, it was questioned if Nikki was a Traitor.
Despite that setback, Nikki was able to remain in the game, and it seemed like she ultimately would recover. Then, Nikki’s fate in the game was sealed when she became a target again and her top allies turned on her.
After The Traitors fans saw Nikki get banished from Alan Cumming’s castle, she spoke out about her experience. The most notable thing that Nikki revealed was that there was an extremely personal situation that directly led to her banishment.
Before the roundtable session that led to Nikki’s banishment began, it was clear that she was in some peril. However, the thing that ultimately doomed Nikki was that her allies believed she was a Traitor because they said her personality changed.

After Nikki was banished, she spoke about her The Traitors experience during an episode of “The Nikki & Brie” podcast that she hosts with her twin sister Brie.
During that podcast episode, as can be heard on the Apple Podcasts website, Nikki revealed that she had her period when she was competing on The Traitors.

In fact, Nikki revealed during the podcast episode that she was in the middle of a bad period on the day that she was banished.
“All my other moms will understand this. Do you know how majority of the time a lot of us moms get worse periods after babies? That was day two of my period.”
Nikki went a step further by telling her co-host and twin sister Brie during the podcast episode that the period she was having was especially bad.
Nikki Garcia and Brie Garcia were born in San Diego, CA on November 21st, 1983. The twin sisters who are WWE Hall of Famers went by the Bella twins during the wrestling careers. Interestingly enough, the twins were born with different names than the ones they professionally go by now or what they went by during their wrestling careers.
To prove her point, Nikki stated that The Traitors production team had to make arrangements to help her in the game because of the situation.
“I don’t know if I because I was overseas, because I wasn’t getting a lot of sleep, because of, like, the game playing. It was, like, ultra period. Like, I mean, they had to go out and make a special run for me to get plus, like, plus size, super plus because you’re bleeding so bad?”
At first blush, Nikki revealing she was having her period may seem like interesting but potentially inconsequential information.
In reality, people who remember why Gabby Windey and Chrishell Stause voted to banish Nikki may realize how important that information may be.
During the same episode of her podcast, Nikki said something that revealed that her having her period during the filming of The Traitors played a major role in her downfall.
Before Nikki was banished, Chrishell and Gabby stated they voted against her because she’d suddenly become quieter. During the podcast episode, Nikki explained that she became quieter because she had her period.
“What people don’t realize is I sat in there feeling so embarrassed. I can’t wait to talk to Rob because I’m like, I know Rob heard the combo, but I’m sitting there bleeding through my pants. So I was very quiet in that game because I just, you know, when you have that, like, when you know you’re bleeding through your pants and you’re like, ‘I don’t want anyone to look at me or see me.’ You just wanna be in, like, a cave.”
Finding out that a natural part of being a woman clearly seemed to play a role in Nikki’s banishment is just sad and frustrating. Sadly, it is far from the first time fans have learned that being a woman makes winning a reality TV show harder.
Nikki Garcia’s Revelation About Her The Traitors Downfall Is Only The Latest Example Of Why Reality Shows Are Harder For Women
After fans learn about what Nikki Garcia went through during The Traitors, they will likely see her exit in a different light. Unfortunately, that may make those fans reflect on the myriad of different ways that reality shows are harder for women. To prove that point, all anyone has to do is look at the history of a show like Survivor.
Throughout the history of Survivor, there have been many examples of ways that the show was harder for women. For example, during the early seasons, many of the players felt that the only thing that initially mattered was strength in challenges. Unsurprisingly, many of those people also believed that men were naturally stronger than women in challenges.
It should also be noted that social dynamics during Survivor favor men. For example, many female Survivor players have spoken about how it was more socially acceptable for the men to go and retrieve things like water and wood. That gave men more opportunities to find immunity idols.
On top of that, many older female Survivor players had almost no chance to win. There are many examples of older female Survivor players being perceived as mother figures. Then, the jury would be furious when those women betrayed them, even though other players would be praised for doing the same thing.
In March 2021, the Survivor player Elaine Stott pointed out to Entertainment Weekly that women typically have a disadvantage during tribal councils.
“The one thing I would change about the show would be where we sit at Tribal Council! I think we should be able to rotate seats and everyone gets the opportunity to sit in the back row. . . . Usually what happens is women typically sit in the front row and men in the back. If you watch past seasons, women are in the front row 90 percent of the time. I’m assuming it’s because of height issues and men are typically taller, so they put them behind us shorter girls. The logic makes sense, but I don’t think it’s fair!”
To Elaine’s point, the men being in the back row makes it much easier for them to observe what is happening during a tribal council.
Unfortunately, there is very little doubt that The Traitors is easier for men than women in a myriad of different ways too.
