Even though so many people have made their mark on Basketball Wives’ history, Tami Roman has still managed to stand out. One of the franchise’s richest stars, Tami’s other claims to fame includes starring in The Real World and becoming a successful actor.
Even though one of Basketball Wives’ stars has suggested the show is fake, the franchise allows viewers to feel a personal connection with its stars. Sadly, there are some examples of Basketball Wives fans becoming worried about the show’s stars because of that connection.
In recent months, one of the Basketball Wives stars fans have become very concerned about is Tami Roman because of her weight loss. Based on what Roman has said about her weight fluctuations, the reality of the situation is very concerning.
What Is Going On With Basketball Wives Star Tami Roman’s Weight?
A lot of the time when a celebrity puts on a lot of muscle or becomes fitter, the media and fans heap praise on their transformation. A recent example of that is all the attention that Kumail Nanjiani received for putting on so much muscle when he was preparing to film Eternals.
On the other hand, if a star gains a lot of fat on their body or paradoxically if they become a lot skinnier, it is common for them to be harshly judged. In some cases, that judgment is well-intentioned and that seems to be what is going on when it comes to Tami Roman.
After fans became used to seeing Roman look a certain way, they couldn’t help but notice that she was losing a lot of weight. Before too long, there started to be a lot of rumors about Roman’s weight loss swirling around.
In a lot of cases, people who noticed Romans’ weight loss began to express how worried they were that the reality star and actor was sick. In September 2022, Roman spoke to eurweb.com about the rumors and what has really been causing her to lose so much weight.
“I’m extremely thin because that’s what I felt I had to be in order to be beautiful And every day is a challenge.” From there, Roman went on to explain how losing weight can become an obsession for her.
“Someone else might get up and stand naked in front of, the mirror and go, oh my goodness like I could pinch (some fat) right here and then go on about their business. But if I can pinch, that becomes a whole mission of like, I’ve gotta lose it.”

“That’s still now. And people have seen my weight, fluctuate up and down, heavier, thinner, even on ‘Unfaithful’ and ‘Haus of Vicious’, you’ll see me heavy and then thin again. It’s an obsession for me.”
Why Tami Roman’s Weight Loss Story Is So Sad
Of course, it is common for people to have weight loss goals and studies have even proven that can be a great thing. Even still, Roman’s remarks about being obsessed with losing weight are very concerning and it gets worse from there.
Also in the aforementioned eurweb.com interview, Roman said something very worrisome about how she sees her own body.
“If I see my clavicle and I see bones that’s great to me but to you, you’d be like, Tammy, you need to eat something. I have Body Dysmorphic Disorder. I didn’t realize that I had it for most of my life until I was diagnosed with it in 2008.”
“It’s either hereditary or a traumatic event that you go through that alters your mind to perceive things a certain way. For me when I was 13, I was trying to model and I went to an agency and I thought I was perfect. I was thin.”
“I was tall and that lady basically annihilated my self-esteem. That’s why I got my mouth wired shut and I was already thin. I thought this must really be what’s wrong with me.”
“I’ve got folds on my back, on my thighs. I need to have a nose, job, boob job, all of this. Like this is what she made me feel like. And I left that, open-call audition saying I’ve just gotta get skinnier.”
Finally, Roman has revealed that her weight loss also is connected to a health issue she has.
“Now today at 50 years. old, I’ve been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and so my weight fluctuates with that and you couple that with the disorder, it’s a hard thing to manage.”
“People don’t understand what it is to be a person with this disorder, particularly with the weight issues, because they leave negative comments.”
During some recent interviews, Roman has spoken about feeling healthy and great. While that is wonderful, it is a shame that Roman and her body have gone through so much.
