Simon Cowell stands as a towering figure in the realm of entertainment. Launching his career in the 1980s and 1990s as a record producer, Cowell gained widespread fame as a judge on “Pop Idol” in 2001. Now aged 66, he founded Syco Entertainment in 2005, a British entertainment juggernaut credited with transforming the landscape of reality television through iconic shows like “The X Factor” and “Britain’s Got Talent.”
Cowell has collaborated with some of the world’s top artists and consistently ranks among the globe’s 100 most influential people. While his extraordinary talent and business acumen are evident, there’s speculation that another element contributes to his phenomenal success. Richard Jones, the first magician to win “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2016, posits that Cowell’s kindness at heart is a key factor in his achievements.

Jones, now 35, had ample time to observe Cowell during his participation in the show and has since encountered him at various charity events following his “Britain’s Got Talent” triumph.
“I’ve seen him at many different events, mostly charity events. He’s a patron for a number of children’s charities. Something I’ve noticed at these events is that behind the scenes he’s really kind to everyone.”
Richard said Simon often “sneaks out” of events in the hopes of not making a scene, but revealed he makes sure to do one thing before leaving.
He recalled: “I’ve left at a similar time to him in the past and I’ve seen that he’ll go up to all the door staff, hotel staff on his way out and shake all their hands. He’ll say, ‘Thanks so much for having us and putting this on.’

“He’ll go round and really take the time to make people feel appreciated. I think that’s probably a big reason as to why he’s so successful. Even though back in the day he was kind of portrayed as the tough guy on these talent shows.
“I think nowadays he’s really showing more of himself and his real personality on TV shows because he’s much kinder in how he judges people on Britain’s Got Talent now than what he used to be.”
Richard added: “He’s much more encouraging. It’s nice to see that because I think that’s the real him behind the scenes. He’s a really cool guy.”
Richard left judges Simon, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden stunned by how he pulled off his magic act in 2016.
With the 10-year anniversary of his first audition approaching, Richard reflected on how quickly the time has gone.

“It’s gone quick. I’m not entirely sure how to explain it. It feels like it’s gone quick in many ways but in other ways, I’ve changed so much since then, it’s almost like I can’t believe I did the show in the first place,” he said.
Before auditioning for the show, Richard had only performed for his friends and colleagues while travelling around with troops in the army. But after learning simple card tricks, Richard quickly realised the power of magic and the impact it could have on people.
Richard has shown no signs of slowing down since his first audition, and has since kicked off the second leg of his UK tour, The Sound of Magic.
