The Valley Season 2, Episode 6 Recap: Discourse Over Drinks
Share and Follow

The cast of The Valley are spending their final days in Santa Barbara, and it hasn’t been a fun-filled trip for anyone. Jesse Lally believed the trip could slowly mend his messy relationship with his estranged spouse, Michelle Saniei, but it only made things worse when he doubled down on a previous statement about calling her a “hooker.”

At the end of Episode 5, Brittany Cartwright, Janet Caperna, and Jasmine Goode express growing suspicions that Nia Booko isn’t being fully transparent about her marriage to Danny Booko. Brittany admits she’s frustrated, feeling vulnerable for openly sharing details about her separation from Jax Taylor, who remains in a treatment facility, while Nia appears to be concealing issues in her own relationship. The women speculate that the hidden struggles may involve Danny’s drinking. The episode concludes with Nia walking in on their conversation about her and Danny.

Danny Booko Hiding In The Pantry Causes Chaos

Episode 6 jumps right back into the action as Brittany continues to explain that she is frustrated that Nia isn’t speaking up about her husband’s drinking and how it may affect the group. Jasmine is on Brittany’s side in the matter since she’s witnessed “dark side Danny” — when he inappropriately touched her and her girlfriend, Melissa, “while blackout drunk.”

Nia and Danny are both stunned that their friends are calling them out for not exposing more of their marital issues. The couple walk back to the room where Nia breaks down to her husband about what’s been going on.

“Long story short they said Nia is lying, she’s keeping secrets, saying that I didn’t say Daniel had too much to drink, he’s passed out drunk. But I’m like two things can be true,” she explains. While she agrees that her husband may have had too much to drink, she wished her friends would have confronted her in a much healthier way. Still, Nia is extremely upset with how they talked behind her back about her husband. “I just don’t walk away and talk bad about her,” she tells her husband when speaking about Brittany and Jax.

Nia called her relationship with Danny “reserved” and couldn’t help that that’s how they are in their marriage compared to Brittany’s drama-filled and very public split with Jax.

“We don’t air our dirty laundry … It does not need to be anybody else’s problem.”

Those in the other room think that Danny “has a drinking problem,” especially after Janet saw him secretly taking a swig of alcohol in the pantry. In a confessional, Janet shares, “Nobody cares that Danny drank too much and slept through dinner. It’s the denial and the hiding it that feels inauthentic and fake.”

The next morning, the group packs up and heads back home after a “trainwreck” of a trip, as Zack Wickham perfectly described it.

Vanderpump Rules’ Scheana Shay makes an appearance, meeting up with Michelle Saniei on a hike. Michelle recounts how horribly the Santa Barbara trip went, with Jesse continuing to call her nasty things like a hooker. She informs Scheana that her current boyfriend, Aaron, is having a difficult time with Jesse’s behavior and might even leave the relationship if things don’t get better between them.

We then head to Jesse’s house, and he meets with his and Michelle’s former marriage coach. The coach tells him to stop acting like a “d***” whenever he’s around Michelle because his friends and those around him will only see him as the bad guy. He’s then advised to scream into a pillow, and he does, saying that it helped a bit. Time will only tell if Jesse does what the coach tells him to do.

Jasmine visits Kristen and Luke at their new rental home, where the conversation turns to Danny’s drinking. Unlike Jasmine, however, the couple downplay any concern, suggesting he was simply tired and that having a drink isn’t unusual for their group. Kristen notes that no one in their circle shies away from more than one beverage. Jasmine later confides that she plans to bring it up during a girls’ dinner, though she remains uneasy about Danny—especially in light of the Halloween incident.

Meanwhile, Luke and Danny visit a jewelry store, where Luke reveals the engagement ring he’s chosen for Kristen. He shares his plan to propose sometime this year—something viewers can look forward to seeing unfold later in the season.

Back at Jesse’s house, he admits he wants things to change between him and Michelle. “I hope that me and Michelle can figure it out,” he says in a confessional. Jesse opens up about the “deep-rooted anger” he’s been holding onto, and his growing desire to release it—for his own peace of mind and for the well-being of their young daughter. He remains cautiously optimistic: “I think things will work itself out.”

The Girl’s Find Out Nia Booko’s Life Hasn’t Been Picture-Perfect

Brittany has a girl’s dinner at her home, but things are definitely tense following Santa Barbara. Both she and Jasmine take a moment to apologize to Nia for how they reacted. Nia, visibly emotional, tears up as she admits she’s still hurt by the fact that they spoke about her and Danny behind her back.

As the women make peace, Nia shares that although they see her life as picture-perfect, that is far from her reality. She reveals that she had a difficult upbringing—growing up in poverty, and at times, even having to live in tents.

In a tearful confessional, Nia shares, “Life has not been easy, but that’s okay because it’s made me strong. And if I can be that point of light and kindness and positivity, I’d rather choose to bring that into people’s lives.”

Nia shares that because of the ways she struggled, she chooses not to be negative because she is thankful for how her life has changed. The women are happy to see Nia opening up, but Janet is still confused by Danny’s behavior, trying to hide his drinking in the pantry. When Janet brings this up to the table, she also shares that she’s had a past with someone with alcohol and drug issues. This clearly doesn’t sit well with Nia who isn’t happy that she’s comparing Danny to this person.

“This is the worst apology I’ve ever heard,” Nia tells the camera.

When Nia leaves, the group do exactly what they did in Santa Barbara — gossip about Nia behind her back. Jasmine is still not over Danny’s actions that Halloween night despite him apologizing to her and Melissa.

Meanwhile, at Janet and Jason’s home, the couple continue the conversation. Janet expresses her concern, saying they need to seriously question Danny’s alcohol consumption. Jason agrees and feels it’s time he had a direct conversation with Danny. However, Danny doesn’t seem to be taking any of it seriously, brushing it off as if it’s all some kind of joke.
