The Walking Dead star Kelley Mack has died at the age of 33 following a battle with cancer. Her death was confirmed in an Instagram post on her page, reading: “It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go. Kelley passed peacefully on Saturday evening with her loving mother, Kristen, and steadfast aunt Karen present. Kelley has already come to many of her loved ones in the form of various butterflies. She will be missed by so many to depths that words cannot express.”

The star was best known for her role as Addy in season nine of the popular zombie series The Walking Dead. Her character “appeared on the show for a year between 2018 – 2019. Other TV roles included parts in 9-1-1, Chicago Med and The College Tapes.

She also made a mark playing Alice in Broadcast Signal Intrusion and Penelope Jacobs in Season 8 of Chicago Med.

Earlier this year, she starred alongside Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas in the comedy drama movie Universal.

She only revealed her diagnosis with a rare form of cancer last September. She said she was undergoing aggressive treatment.

Taking to social media at the time, she said: “I have been diagnosed with #diffusemidlineglioma, an extremely rare type of #astrocytoma #cancer.”

Devastated fans rushed to pay tribute as the news broke. “Just been publicly announced from her Family through Kelley’s IG page. Kelley Mack sadly passed away last Saturday evening at the age of 33. I will leave the details of her passing & of her final moments within the safekeeping of her family,” one penned.

“TWD Family will remember, Kelley from the clan back in Season 9 of AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD, where she gave life to troublesome Teen ‘Addy’ AKA { Adeline } from 2018-2019. My heart & condolences goes out to all of Kelley’s loved ones Thank you, Kelley for Addy! Thank you for #TheWalkingDead,” a second added.

Another said: “It’s with immense sadness that we share the passing of Kelley Mack at the age of 33. Kelley is known to fans of #TheWalkingDead for portraying the character of Addy in Season 9. Our sincere thoughts are with her loved ones during this difficult time.”

A fourth said: “Today the world lost another based, awake, and fighting soul who fought back to reclaim her health after vaccine-induced turbo cancer took hold and claimed her ability to walk last summer. Kelley’s bubbly and vivacious spirit was a gift and light in this world. I am excruciatingly saddened that I never had the chance to say goodbye.”
