When new Survivor fans are figuring out which seasons to watch first, they will have a lot to learn about Jeff Probst’s beloved reality show. For example, there are some interesting Survivor facts, like who the first person to be medically evacuated was and which former players refused to return. More importantly, new fans will get to learn which seasons are the best, who the greatest players are, and which winners deserve the most respect.

While talking about Survivor’s most impressive winners ever, Todd Herzog has to be included on that list. Given that he is one of Survivor’s best winners, it is fascinating that he told TheThings he would have returned for Survivor 50: In the Hand of the Fans if he’d been asked.

In August 2025, TheThings journalist Matthew Thomas interviewed Todd Herzog about Survivor. During that discussion, Todd was asked if he had been contacted about Survivor 50: In the Hand of the Fans and if he would have played if asked. Todd explained that he would have competed on the show again if he was asked about Survivor 50: In the Hand of the Fans.

“I would say yes. The way I look at it is like this. I would say yes, and I would gladly go play Survivor again.“

Fortunately for Todd, however, he went on to explain that he isn’t upset that he wasn’t asked to play Survivor again.

In the community of former Survivor players, some people obviously really want to play again. However, Todd told TheThings that he is perfectly fine with the prospect of never getting to play Survivor again.

“It’s not something that I have to do though. So, I would love to. I think it’d be fun to see what it would be like now, but I don’t need to.”

Clearly very happy with the life he has built for himself, it is wonderful that Todd is comfortable with never being tapped for Survivor again. Still, that doesn’t necessarily mean that reality show fans will never see Todd again.

While talking to TheThings, Todd named some reality shows he would compete on if he was given the chance to.

“I would do The Traitors, and I would do Big Brother, and I would do The Amazing Race.”

Todd then explained that he wouldn’t compete on Deal or No Deal Island before revealing that he once turned down a popular MTV reality show. “I was asked to do The Challenge, and I was like, ‘No. No, thank you.’”

Todd Herzog Perfectly Explained Why It Is A Shame That Players From His Era Aren’t Part Of Survivor 50: In The Hands Of The Fans

When the cast for Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans was announced, many viewers were upset the season featured so many players from very recent seasons. In order for there to be so many recent players, very few players from Survivor’s middle era were included in the upcoming landmark season. As someone who played during the 15th season, which arguably is part of that middle era, Todd Herzog told TheThings about why he is disappointed players from his time were excluded.

“I feel like it was not done properly, in my opinion. I would have liked to have seen it be more spread out, so we had old school, new school, new era. I think that would have been awesome. But instead, we don’t really have any new school from 21 to 40. We don’t really have a whole lot. So I feel like a big chunk of 50 years or 50 seasons of Survivor was missed.”

When he was asked which players he wished were part of Survivor 50: In the Hand of the Fans, Todd brought up a beloved figure from the season he won. While speaking to TheThings, Todd explained that he wished Amanda Kimmel was part of Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans.

“I wish Amanda from my season. I wish she was there. I feel like she would be an awesome person to bring back because she’s been out of the Survivor world for so long.”

On top of revealing that he wishes Amanda returned, Todd named the Survivor 50: In the Hand of the Fans players he is excited were chosen. Todd explained that he was happy that he would get to see more of Angelina Keeley, Christian Hubicki, Mike White, Jenna Lewis-Dougherty, and Benjamin “Coach” Wade.
