Brazilian-Portuguese television icon and DJ Maycon Douglas has passed away at the age of 26. Known for his participation in the eighth season of the Portuguese reality show ‘Secret Story – Casa dos Segredos,’ Douglas vanished on New Year’s Eve after performing at a local bar.

He embarked on a journey home with a friend but never reached his destination. Sadly, his lifeless body was discovered on a Portuguese beach on Wednesday, retrieved by fisherman Antonio Silva. Authorities identified Douglas through his distinctive tattoos. Prior to the discovery, his car had already been found submerged at North Beach, Nazaré, a location north of Lisbon. His body emerged nearby, close to where his vehicle had been found.

Authorities are currently awaiting autopsy results to determine the precise cause of Douglas’s death. The possibility of foul play has not been dismissed.

Police are exploring every avenue in their investigation, including the potential involvement of murder. The case remains active as detectives continue their inquiries.

Douglas’s girlfriend, Raquel Coelho, confirmed his passing with a heartfelt tribute on social media. She expressed, “I would give anything to have you back, anything. You entered my life unexpectedly, and you can’t imagine how thankful I am that you did.”

“You made me believe again that it’s possible to find good people and that it’s possible to love and have that love returned.”

The family faced more heartbreak as just a day before Douglas’ body was found, his mum fell ill and needed to be hospitalised.

Douglas had an impressive online following on Instagram and TikTok, following his reality TV stint, where he had 50,000 and 22,000 followers, respectively.

His last post was on December 30 – the day before his disappearance. He wrote: “2025 was intense. We learned a lot, and lived even more. 2026 is about vision, discipline, and consistency.”
