Renowned singer Scott Sorry has passed away following a prolonged struggle with brain cancer, as confirmed by his representatives. The former member of The Wildhearts, born Gerard Engelter, died on his 47th birthday. The heartbreaking announcement was shared on his official Instagram account on Thursday, October 30.

The statement read: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Scott Sorry’s passing after a courageous and extended battle with brain cancer. Scott left us on October 30, 2025, the day he turned 47. Diagnosed with Glioblastoma in 2018, Scott never allowed the illness to define him.

“Defying medical expectations, he transformed months into years, even making a triumphant return to the UK for a tour in 2022. This tour held immense significance for him, allowing him to reconnect with fans and personally express his gratitude to those who supported him throughout his journey.

“Though we are deeply saddened, we find solace knowing he is now free from pain. His enduring strength, humor, and kindness will remain with us always. Scott leaves behind his wife, Hanni, and their three children, River, Ryder, and Rörik.”
