Trisha Yearwood shared a birthday post in honor of husband Garth Brooks, as “The Thunder Rolls” artist remains embroiled in dueling lawsuits with a woman who accused him of sexual assault
“For my forever duet partner … Happy Birthday, Honey. Xo,” Trisha, 60, captioned an Instagram photo showing her planting a kiss on Garth’s cheek on Friday, February 7, when the “Friends in Low Places” singer turned 63 years old. The country music power couple married in 2005 after more than three years of dating.
It was the first Instagram post Trish devoted to her husband since October 2024, when a former makeup artist accused Garth of sexual assault in a lawsuit.
A woman going by the pseudonym “Jane Roe” filed the paperwork in a state court in California on October 3, 2024, according to court documents obtained by In Touch. The woman, who claimed to have worked for Garth as a hair and makeup artist, alleged that the incidents occurred in 2019. She claimed that she was raped by Garth during a work trip.
Garth vehemently denied Jane Roe’s accusations and claimed that she had been trying to blackmail him prior to filing her lawsuit. “For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars. It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face,” he said in a statement to Us Weekly on the day the lawsuit was filed.
He added, “Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of — ugly acts no human should ever do to another. We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides.”
Garth originally filed a federal lawsuit against the accuser in September 2024. He used the pseudonym John Doe for himself and Jane Roe for the hairstylist.

He claimed Jane had threatened to make false allegations of sexual assault. Garth demanded the court find that Jane’s allegations were false and prevent her from bringing a public lawsuit. Jane then filed a separate lawsuit against Garth for sexual assault in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Garth amended his federal lawsuit on October 9, 2024, to reveal the name of his accuser. Her attorney fired back with the statement, “Garth Brooks just revealed his true self. Out of spite and to punish, he publicly named a rape victim. With no legal justification, Brooks outed her because he thinks the laws don’t apply to him. On behalf of our client, we will be moving for maximum sanctions against him immediately.”
Garth filed a motion to dismiss Jane Roe’s sexual assault lawsuit in November 2024, which was denied by a judge on December 17, 2024, pending the outcome of his federal lawsuit.
Trisha showed her support for Garth in an Instagram post four days after Jane Roe’s lawsuit was filed. She posted a photo of herself singing with Garth in Las Vegas, captioning it “Love One Another,” on October 7, 2024. The Home Cooking With Trisha Yearwood author’s birthday tribute in honor of Garth was the first time she has posted about her husband since then.
“It’s heartbreaking for Trisha,” a source exclusively told In Touch about the ongoing legal drama on October 15. “She loves Garth more than anything — she never expected this.”
