This Thanksgiving week, it wasn’t just the turkeys that needed warming up at Trump Tower.
According to a chilly insider, the heating and hot water systems at the luxurious Fifth Avenue residence failed on Tuesday, prompting its affluent tenants to seek refuge in other plush accommodations.
Residents reportedly received an email alerting them to the situation at 6 a.m. The building’s interior was described as “freezing,” as temperatures in New York City reached a high of just 48 degrees that day.
“It was inexplicably colder inside than outside,” one source remarked.
“Imagine shelling out this kind of money to live in a place that felt like a tenement yesterday, with no heat or hot water for 24 hours,” another source vented.
Residents were steaming the heat was off.
We hear the frost-bitten Fifth Avenue refugees fled to the Aman around the corner where rooms are going for $3,650 a night, and to the swanky Plaza, which appears to be a relative bargain at $1,960 a night.
We hear that thankfully the utilities were back on in 24 hours, and well-heeled residents returned in time for Thanksgiving.
Bruce Willis, Steven Spielberg, Johnny Carson, Sophia Loren, Alex Rodriguez and marketing guru Donny Deutsch have all lived in the building.
Hillary Clinton once borrowed Steven Spielberg’s unit as a crash pad during a New York campaign, and Michael Jackson also rented at the place.
