Robert Duvall, revered for his iconic roles, spent his final years savoring the tranquility of Virginia’s rural landscape, passing away at 95.
Duvall settled on a sprawling 360-acre property known as Byrnley Farm, located in The Plains, Virginia, which he acquired in the early 1990s. He shared this idyllic retreat with his wife, Luciana Pedraza, whom he married in 2005.
In a 2011 conversation with the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Duvall fondly stated, “For my wife, Virginia is the last stop before heaven,” reflecting their deep affection for the area. He added, “We have a fondness for Texas, but our hearts are truly here.”
The couple cherished their life together at Byrnley Farm until Duvall passed away in February 2026.

“Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time,” Pedraza announced via Facebook. “Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort.”
The statement continued, “To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court. For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented. In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all. Thank you for the years of support you showed Bob and for giving us this time and privacy to celebrate the memories he leaves behind.”

“Bobby likes me to try things, to become good at them. I have his support in anything I do.” Pedraza said in a 2002 interview with Architectural Digest of taking on the task of designing the couple’s home. “I didn’t feel comfortable using an interior designer because your house should be personal, every corner. It would be like letting someone choose my clothes.”
The property also holds a working cattle and horse farm. There is also a barn that Duvall and Pedraza used as a dance hall.
“We bring in tango teachers, like Pablo Verón from Tango Lesson, give three-day courses, then have a big party where everyone dances,” Pedraza told the outlet. “Bobby dances really well. I love dancing with him, love his perception of the tango.”
