Sam Thompson, a familiar face from “This Morning,” recently shared an update regarding his health as he prepared for surgery. The popular presenter posted a video from his hospital bed, announcing that he would soon be undergoing anesthesia. Sam revealed that doctors had found a cyst on his vocal cords, which had been causing him to frequently lose his voice. On Tuesday, the 33-year-old took to Instagram Stories to inform fans that he was in a hospital gown, ready for the procedure.

In the video clip, Sam stated, “I’m having vocal cord surgery. It’s been scheduled for a while now. The cyst on my vocal cords developed because I tend to shout a lot.”

He added, “I often lose my voice with just a single shout.”

Sam further explained, “Yes, they’re going to remove it. I’ve never been put to sleep before. I have numbing cream on my hand in preparation.”

In a light-hearted moment, the ITV daytime presenter playfully thrust his hand towards the camera to show off the numbing cream.

“Apparently, they inject you,” he went on, “and ask you to countdown from ten. Oh my god… then you wake up.”

Sam added, “I’m a bit nervous. I don’t like not being in control.”

The presenter said he will be unable to speak for a few days following the operation.

Sam also shared some photos before undergoing surgery.

He captioned the selfie: “Obligatory pre surgery photo in a hospital gown to make people wonder what happened [laughing emojis].”

Sam is a regular on Thursday’s offering of This Morning to deliver all the showbiz gossip to hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
