Her relationship with Craig hit a rough patch after she defended Paige DeSorbo amid her breakup with Craig. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Craig declared that he no longer considered Venita a friend.
In a December 23 episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat Podcast, Venita delved into the dynamics of the current season of Southern Charm. When asked if she felt Craig was deliberately excluding her from the group, she didn’t hold back.
She candidly shared, “Yeah, he literally was refusing to film with me.”
Venita responded, “Yeah, he literally was refusing to film with me.”
The host asked if him and the other cast members not filming with her would mean her job could be in jeopardy. She said, “Yes, that means I don’t have a job. That means I can’t hang out with my friends. That means I don’t have a platform to show up to. Like I would lose so many things. You know what I mean? That’s just really mean.”
During the interview, they also discussed Ciara from Summer House coming to her defense on social media amid the drama with the cast. Regarding whether she felt her fellow Bravo star had helped, she said, “Yeah, I think it helped people understand it on a different level, a thousand percent.”
She continued, “And I texted Ciara shortly after I saw it, and I was like, thank you for speaking, because in moments like this, I choke on words. Like, I don’t know how to like…”
The host asked if she knew Ciara was going to make the social media comment. “No, I had no idea. I had no idea,” Venita responded. “I saw it online for the first time, just like everyone else did while it was happening.”
In another section of the interview, Venita went to show the host her phone to prove that Threads was the only social media app she had downloaded. While doing so, she saw a message that Craig had blocked her assistant on Instagram. This led the interviewer to ask her to speculate what she may have said wrong during her friendship with Craig.
She pondered, “That I was team Paige? That you were milking things? That’s it.” The host then asked if Venita believed there was a world in which Craig was hurt because he thought they were friends.
According to Venita, “Do I think that at any point that he thought we were actually friends? No. Do I think that there might be some part of him that could be hurt? Sure. But just say that. Speak to me like an adult and tell me that.”
From there, they discussed whether or not Venita had tried to mend things with Craig. She explained, “Yeah, I feel like I tried, I feel like I tried to get one-on-one time with him throughout the season to chat about it, and he just wasn’t into it.”
Later, they discussed Craig’s overall dynamic with the Southern Charm cast. Venita said, “Listen, last year, Andy asked us, he was like, how many of you on this couch are afraid of Craig? We all raised our hands.”
When asked why people feel this way, she explained, “Me personally, I have no idea because I’ve never been able to get close, but I just see how he talks to his people and people around him. I’m like, that’s just scary. How do you talk to people you call your friends like that?”
They also discussed the origins of her friendship with Ciara. When asked how they became friends, Venita stated, “I sent Ciara a DM on Instagram in 2021, welcoming her to like the Bravo space. And like, that was it. We started hanging out probably the next year, which was fun. I came out to the Summer House once or twice. And yeah, now we’re just kind of conjoined at the hip.”
Regarding how it felt for the Summer House star to defend her, Ventia said, “It felt good.” Finally, Venita admitted that despite having assumptions, she still doesn’t know what went wrong with Craig.
She said, “I have no idea. I wish I could sit down and ask him if I’m being honest. Like, hey, like, why are you so mad at me? I just assume it’s always the Paige stuff. Like, and if that’s still, and if that’s it, then like we have got to move on from that.”
Southern Charm airs Wednesday nights on Bravo.
