It’s no secret that many talented Hollywood actors and famous musicians come from talented families. In recent years some of these stars, often branded nepo babies, have received plenty of backlash for launching their careers thanks to their famous parent’s wealth and connections.

However, there are also many talented nepo babies who have proven they are where they are, thanks to their hard work and not to their families’ names. Some examples include Nicolage Cage, Elizabeth Olsen, Drew Barrymore, and Stranger Things’ Maya Hawke.

Like in the case of many actors and musicians, there are plenty of successful comedians who were born into privileged families. For example, in a new Pepsi commercial, Steve Martin jokingly called Ben Stiller a “nepo baby” because he’s the son of late comedians Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara.

After this hilarious commercial became viral, fans can’t help but wonder if other popular comedians, like Adam Sandler, were born into wealth too.

Believe it or not, Adam Sandler is one of many celebrities who have attended college. The actor and comedian graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1988. However, he landed his first professional acting gig a year before graduating. In 1987, Sandler was cast as Smitty, Theo Huxtable’s friend, on The Cosby Show, as well as the Stud Boy or Trivia Delinquent on MTV’s game show Remote Control.

After that, he started working as a stand-up comedian, performing in several clubs until comedian Dennis Miller saw him and recommended him to Lorne Michaels, producer of Saturday Night Live. Following his departure from SNL, Sandler starred in Billy Madison (1995). Despite the negative reviews, this comedy film was a huge commercial success, making more than $26 million at the box office worldwide. He would then go on to star in other successful comedy films such as Bulletproof (1996), Happy Gilmore (1996), The Wedding Singer (1998), and The Waterboy (1998).
