After Larry and Laurie were married for many years, they surprised many observers when they got divorced. After that, Larry went on to get remarried and everyone knows that he has continued making lots of money due to his extremely successful Hollywood career.

Of course, Laurie was never as famous as her ex-husband so it makes sense that many people haven’t kept track of her life in recent years. With that in mind, it begs an obvious question, what is Laurie up to now?

Why Did Larry David And Laurie David Get Divorced?

Around the same time that the sitcom Seinfeld was becoming extremely popular, the show’s co-creator and executive producer at the time had a huge moment in his personal life. The reason for that is in 1993 Larry David walked down the aisle with Laurie David.

After Larry and Laurie were wed, the couple had two daughters together named Cazzie and Romy. Like her parents, Cazzie grew up to have an interest in writing and Hollywood. A writer and actor, Cazzie had a book of essays titled “No One Asked For This” published, and she appeared in several episodes of The Umbrella Academy.

After roughly 14 years of marriage, Larry and Laurie finalized their divorce in 2007. Since Larry is a celebrity who is known for his willingness to talk about touchy topics, it makes sense that he has been asked about his divorce. Still, Larry’s explanation for his marriage to Laurie ending is surprising even for him.

In 2011, Larry David was interviewed by Rolling Stone Magazine. During the resulting conversation, Larry was asked about his divorce and he blamed it on Laurie not liking him any longer while referencing their intimate life.

“Well, she thought that it would be nice to have s*x with someone she liked. She wanted to try that.”

From there, Larry claimed that he tried to talk Laurie out of divorcing him for that reason to no avail.

“And I said it’s not a good idea. Because you never wanna have s*x with people you like. You can’t have good s*x with people you like. Doing those things. And then you’re supposed to talk to them?”

While Larry’s colorful explanation for his divorce is attention-grabbing, it is worth noting that Laurie likely would have explained their marriage ending differently. After all, the legal paperwork blamed “irreconcilable differences”.

Where Is Larry David’s Ex-Wife Laurie David Now?

During Larry David and Laurie David’s marriage, the couple worked together to advance many causes they believed in. A perfect example of that is Laurie became a trustee of the Natural Resources Defense Council which opened the David Family Environmental Action Center in 2004 thanks to donations from the couple.

Since Laurie David became single, she has continued to fight for those same causes. In fact, Laurie has used all manners of media to fight against climate change as evidenced by her podcast appearance talking about the subject.

Thanks to her activism, Laurie has won several awards including most recently being given Bette Midler’s Green Goddess Award in 2019.

Laurie also recently published a book she co-wrote which is intended to teach readers about how to fight against climate change. Titled “Imagine It! A Handbook for a Happier Planet”, the book was co-written with Heather Reisman.

Before that book, Laurie previously co-wrote two other books both of which were similar to each other. Those two books were titled “The Family Cooks: 100+ Recipes to Get Your Family Craving Food That’s Simple, Tasty, and Incredibly Good for You” and “The Family Dinner: Great Ways to Connect with Your Kids One Meal at a Time”.

On top of penning books, Laurie has previously written for The Huffington Post several times. However, according to Laurie’s writer’s page, HuffPo hasn’t published anything she has written since 2017.

Considering that Laurie has published a pair of books about centering the family, it seems safe to assume that she also prioritizes spending time with loved ones these days, including her two children.
