When new Survivor fans are at the point when they are still figuring out which seasons to watch first, they will quickly realize there is a lot to learn about the show. For example, regular viewers of Jeff Probst’s beloved reality show may learn who was medically evacuated first and which players refused to return. On top of that, Survivor fans will eventually learn about which seasons are considered the best, who the most legendary players are, and which winners are iconic.

As interesting as it is for fans to learn about Survivor’s past, anyone who loves the show will also likely be following the current season. Despite Survivor 48 having a horrible journey, it is always fun to look at which players are actually contenders to win the season.

Joe Hunter Is The Most Likely To Win Survivor 48

On Wednesday, May 21st, 2025, the finale of Survivor 48 will air. On that date, fans of Jeff Probst’s show will know exactly who became Survivor 48’s Sole Survivor and won the show’s $1 million prize.

Between now and that date, fans of the show won’t be able to know for sure which of the season’s remaining five players will win. That said, based on what has been seen during Survivor 48 so far, people have strong opinions about who is the most likely to win.

As is always the case with seasons of the beloved reality show, Survivor 48 has a front-runner for who is the most likely to win. As it turns out, it is widely believed that Joe Hunter is the most likely to win Survivor 48.

Truthfully, it has long seemed like Joe Hunter was the person who was the most likely to win Survivor 48. In fact, there are many very compelling reasons to think that there is a good chance that Joe will prevail and be named as the Sole Survivor.

The first reason to think that Joe is likely to win Survivor 48 is the betting odds. According to a May 13th, 2025 Gambling Sites article, the betting odds state that Joe is the most likely to win Survivor 48 as he was listed at -200.

For those that don’t know, that means that for someone to win $100 by betting on Joe, they have to risk $200 of their money. That article states that people would have to bet the most money on Joe to win $100, which means he is considered the most likely to win.

On top of the betting odds, there are three more reasons to think that Joe is the most likely to win. First off, based on what fans have seen during Survivor 48, Joe has played a dominant game that jury members are likely to reward if he makes it to the end.

Strategically speaking, it has long seemed like Joe was the leader of Survivor 48’s dominant alliance. As a result, almost all the moves that took place during Survivor 48 required Joe’s approval.

One potential stumbling block that does exist for Joe Hunter is the fact that he burned some of his close allies. Most notably, David Kinne seemed outraged at having Joe turn on him. Still, even if David and others are angry at Joe, there is still a very good possibility that they will give him their jury votes if he makes it to the end. After all, many jury members in Survivor history have put their personal frustrations aside to reward the player they thought deserved to win.

In terms of Joe’s social game, that has also been shown to be very strong. After all, Joe clearly built extremely close bonds with several of his tribemates. While Eva Erickson is the most obvious example of that, Kyle Fraser and Shauhin Davari both also made their desire to be loyal to Joe very clear at points.

Another reason why Joe seems like the frontrunner to win Survivor 48 is how he has been portrayed. For many years, Survivor fans have felt that the show creates so-called winner’s edits. If Survivor 48 has a winner’s edit, it was Joe that received it.

In January 2025, Entertainment Weekly published the bios for Survivor 48. As part of Joe Hunter’s bio, he answered a question about why he would become Survivor 48’s winner. “I have been through so much loss, pain, and struggle. This has given me the power to overcome anything. This has given me the power to overcome and be the next Sole Survivor.”

The second last episode of Survivor 48 epitomized why Joe seemingly got a winner’s edit. After all, even though he was tricked during that episode and convinced to turn on his ally, the episode was mainly told from Joe’s point of view.

During the episode, Kyle Fraser and Kamilla Karthigesu teamed up to tell Joe that Shauhin Davari had turned on him. After Joe was manipulated, most of the remainder of the episode showed Joe trying to figure out the truth from his perspective. In fact, there were only a handful of scenes after the immunity challenge that didn’t revolve around Joe. Additionally, the episode showed Joe trying to come to grips with the emotional toll of his sister’s tragic death that happened years earlier. The show putting Joe in the spotlight during an episode that featured Kyle and Kamilla’s big move could be very telling.

Kyle Fraser Is The Second Most-Likely To Win Survivor 48

After the last paragraph pointed out that an episode that featured Kyle Fraser and Kamilla Karthigesu’s big move revolved around Joe Hunter, this may seem confusing. However, there are very valid reasons to think that Kyle Fraser could still win Survivor 48.

First off, Gambling Sites’ aforementioned article listed Kyle as the second most likely Survivor 48 player to win the season. According to the outlet, the betting odds for Kyle winning are +240. That means that people who bet $100 on Kyle prevailing would win $240 if he becomes the Sole Survivor.

The second thing to consider is that Joe Hunter may not be eligible to win Survivor 48 since he may not make it to the final tribal council. Based on everything that they have all said, it seems very clear that Kyle, Kamilla, and Mitch Guerra would want to vote Joe out if they can.

The biggest reason to think that Kyle may win is that it seems likely that he would be incredible if he makes to the final tribal council. There are three main reasons to believe Kyle’s final tribal council performance could sway jurors if he makes it to the end.

The most obvious reason to think that Kyle could be amazing during the final tribal council is that every piece of evidence shows that he will likely make amazing arguments. For example, even though he told his tribemates that he is a teacher, fans know that he actually is an attorney. Attorneys are trained to argue in front of juries, ao Kyle seems like he will express himself very well.

Next, throughout Survivor 48, Kyle constantly proved that he is an extremely intelligent person with great social understanding. As a result, it seems very likely that Kyle will be good at reading the jury and understanding how to speak to them.

Finally, Kyle has a great story to tell the jury. When Kyle finally gets to talk about his secret alliance with Kamilla, he will be able to take credit for a lot of the most impactful moments from Survivor 48. The only potential stumbling block to that is that the jury may not believe Kyle, or it might be too late by then.

How Likely Are The Other Players To Win Survivor 48?

While Joe Hunter and Kyle Fraser are the real contenders to win Survivor 48, that doesn’t mean that other players couldn’t prevail. As a result, it makes sense to look at how likely Survivor 48’s three other remaining players are to win the season.

According to Gambling Sites’ aforementioned article, Eva Erickson is the third most likely player to win Survivor 48. The article stated that the odds of Eva winning Survivor 48 are +500 which means people who bet $100 on her would win $550.

Strategically speaking, Eva can take credit for many of the same things that Joe Hunter was involved with. The problem with that is that it seems clear that unlike Joe, Eva wasn’t perceived as the leader of her alliance.

The next most likely Survivor 48 winner to prevail, according to the article, is Kamilla Karthigesu. The article states that the odds of a Kamilla win are +750. Kamilla’s case for becoming the winner of Survivor 48 is very similar to Kyle’s. The key difference is that Kamilla would likely have a harder time convincing the jury since she has a perception problem. After all, from the perception of the jury members, Kamilla has been perceived as being at the bottom of the game. As a result, it would likely be hard for Kamilla to so dramatically change the jury members’ minds.

Finally, Mitch Guerra is recognized as the least likely remaining player to win Survivor 48. Gambling Sites list Mitch’s betting odds as +1000 which means someone could win $1000 if they only risk $100 of their own money. While Mitch has a lot going for him as a player and fans needed to stop sleeping on his skills early on in the season, it is very clear that he is almost certainly not going to win Survivor 48. The facts are that Mitch was never truly in a dominant position, and he turned down many jury members who wanted to make a big move with him. It is very hard to see a path for Mitch to convince those same jury members to now vote for him to win.
