- How Rob Zombie and Sheri Moon Zombie Became One Of Rock’s Most Adorable Couples
Ever since Rob Zombie first rose to fame, there have been a lot of people who’ve judged him harshly. The reason for that is some people judge anyone who looks like Rob or makes the kind of films and music that he makes.
Based on everything that is known about Rob, people’s stereotypes about him are wrong. After all, Rob may make art that isn’t for everyone, including a Munsters reboot that got awful reviews, but he seems to have a very close-knit group of friends and collaborators.
For proof of how much a lot of people love working with Rob, all you have to do is look at what happened after he made Halloween. Even though Rob was miserable when he made Halloween, a large portion of the film’s stars went on to work with him in his other movies.
Of all the actors who’ve worked with Rob over and over again, his long-time wife Sheri Moon Zombie has to be the most obvious. With that in mind, many of Rob’s fans will likely be shocked to know how reluctant Sheri was to star in one of Rob’s most recent movies.
Why Didn’t Sheri Moon Zombie Want To Star In House Of 1000 Corpses?
When Rob Zombie launched his filmmaking career in 2003, he had a lot on the line. After all, Rob clearly has a passion for telling stories through the movie medium, and if House of 1000 Corpses failed he likely wouldn’t have gotten another opportunity.
Given everything that was on the line, most people in Rob’s shoes at that moment would have done everything they could to cast big stars in House of 1000 Corpses. Despite that, Rob made the surprising decision to cast his wife Sheri Moon Zombie in one of the movie’s main roles.
Thankfully for Rob and Sheri, House of 1000 Corpses became a success which allowed them to go on to make many other movies together. Since then, Rob has helmed several movies and Sheri has played a starring role in almost all of them.
To date, the only film that Rob has directed which didn’t star Sheri is The Zombie Horror Picture Show. In that case, it would have been really weird if Sheri starred in The Zombie Horror Picture Show since it is a concert film that captured one of Rob’s performances with his band.
Considering that Rob and Sheri have worked on so many films together, it certainly seems like he would be able to assume she would be excited to headline his next project. However, as it turns out, when Rob was preparing to make one of his most recent films, Sheri didn’t want to star in it.

After making House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, Rob Zombie decided to make a sequel to those two films titled 3 From Hell. While speaking to kerrang.com, Sheri revealed why she initially didn’t want to star in 3 From Hell.
“I’ve been really apprehensive about it, and in fact did not even want to reprise the role. I thought Devil’s Rejects left it at a good spot, and there’s always the chance of…you want to leave a good, lasting idea and memory, for the project, for the fans, for sentiment even. And I was nervous about, ‘How can we make it better?’”
Fortunately for Rob and Sheri, once she read the script he wrote for 3 From Hell, she completely changed her tune.
“And then Rob wrote the script, and I immediately thought, ‘Wow, we have to do this! It’s totally a continuation!’ So then, stepping back into Baby’s shoes was a delight. I love playing her, she’s so much fun, and more nuanced and wiser in her own ways. I had a blast!”
Given that there was such a long break between the release of The Devil’s Rejects and 3 From Hell, it still seems possible that Rob will want to make a fourth film in the series. If that day ever comes to pass, it will be fascinating to see if Sheri has the same worries about returning to her starring role again.
Based on how things played out when the couple made 3 From Hell together, even if Sheri has the same concerns at first, there is a strong possibility they will quickly fade.
