During a recent profile with Rolling Stones promoting her highly anticipated documentary My Mind And Me, Selena Gomez managed to cause major bad blood to Francia Raisa.
“I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities,” the singer and actress revealed. “My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong. I felt the presence of everyone around me living full lives. Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa first met at a charity event back in 2007. They quickly formed a bond – becoming practically inseparable. You could frequently find them gushing about each other on social media and in interviews. They would even call each other sisters!
Francia told Latina in 2013, “Six years ago Disney and ABC Family had the stars of their shows go to the Children’s Hospital. Selena and I were in the same group, and we just clicked.” Selena had just landed her breakout role in Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, while Francia was preparing to star in ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
“I love her to death. She’s my sister, and she is one of the sweetest girls I know. She is so caring and so loving and so nurturing. She’s awesome. I don’t know where she came from,” Raisa praised the “Same Old Love” singer in 2014.

In 2017, Francia Raisa donated her kidney to Selena Gomez in what was called a “life-saving” transplant after Gomez became gravely ill with lupus.
“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,” Selena wrote in 2017. “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
Francia is only mentioned once in this new documentary, when Selena referred to her as “that girl who donated me a kidney”.

When Selena Gomez was awarded with the Billboard Woman of the Year award later in 2017, she dedicated her win to Francia Raisa.
After the transplant surgery, Selena’s mother, Mandy Teefey, wrote that she “gained another daughter” in an emotional tribute to Raisa.
“Selena gained a kidney, I was able to keep my little girl, but I also gained another daughter,” she wrote on Instagram in 2017. “Thank you to everyone who was there for Sel, Francia, and our families. We survived from all the love, prayers, and God.”

“I never regretted it, at all. I’m really honored and grateful that I was able to do that for her. It was never a question, never a regret,” Francia Raisa said soon after the surgery
Francia would later reveal that she severely struggled with her physical and mental health after the transplant operation. “It was hard. I didn’t want to eat. I didn’t want to drink anything,” she said. She also revealed in another interview that she was so weak she couldn’t pick up her 16-pound dog.

4/8 Did Selena Gomez And Francia Raisa Fall Out After The Kidney Transplant?
Francia Raisa reportedly became enraged when Selena Gomez was spotted drinking alcohol during a wild night out at the Four Seasons hotel in New York City only a year after the transplant.
The two ladies allegedly got into a huge argument about Selena’s health choices. She would later check herself into a treatment center in October 2018.
“Selena is in a better place. But because of everything that they’ve been through together, Selena doesn’t know if she can ever really be a part of Francia’s life again,” an insider revealed in 2018 to RadarOnline.

By December 2019, Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa’s friendship was going strong again. They revealed on social media that they had gotten matching tattoos of the date they got the kidney transplant surgery.
“I actually got the date of when I got my kidney transplant. And did that with the girl that gave me the kidney,” Selena revealed in a YouTube video.
In early 2020, Francia showed her support for Selena by gushing over her new album Rare to Entertainment Tonight. She joked, “I’m shaking my a** a lot when I listen to it.”
In honor of World Kidney Day in March 2021, Selena posted an emotional message in which she said she was “forever grateful” for Francia. She was seen attending Selena’s 30th birthday celebration earlier this year. Their most recent appearance was in a July 2022 TikTok video where their relationship seemed as strong as ever.

When E! News used the quote about Selena Gomez’s friends in the industry on its Instagram alongside a photo of Gomez with Taylor Swift, Raisa reacted by commenting, “interesting”. She later deleted the comment.
After the documentary aired, fans we’re quick to pick up on the fact that Francia no longer follows Selena on Instagram, although Selena still follows the 34-year-old actress.
