Tennis is quietly one of the more popular sports in the world. It might not have the flash of Football, or make the news as much as Soccer, but many people seem to enjoy Tennis as a whole. Some of the most iconic athletes in the world are tennis players, and a prime example of this is superstar Taylor Fritz. A rising Tennis prodigy, Taylor has already ranked high in the Australian Open tournament and is looking to win it all in 2023. Right now, Taylor has the worldwide ATP ranking of Number 8 and is seen as the best Tennis player hailing from America.
Recently, Taylor’s love life has come to the forefront. Not only is this because of Taylor’s supurb skills on the court, but because of some drama that’s made its rounds on social media. That’s due to controversial TikTok star and original Hype House mainstay Morgan Riddle, who just so happens to be currently dating Taylor. How exactly did these two meet, and what has caused Morgan to be so controversial in Taylor’s life? Here’s everything to know.
Everything To Know About Taylor Fritz And Morgan Riddle’s Relationship
Before Taylor was seeing Morgan, he was actually married to a completely different woman. He met and fell in love with a fellow tennis star Raquel Pedraza. She’s a pretty good tennis player as well, and together, the two had a son. Maybe he’ll become a tennis star one day, too.
Unfortunately, Taylor and Raquel got a divorce due to conflicting schedules. This led to Taylor falling in love with Morgan Riddle, who he got with all the way back in June of 2020. It might seem a bit odd for the two to have fallen in love during the pandemic, but it all makes sense. According to Bustle, the two actually met on an undisclosed dating app. Yes, celebrities can use dating apps too.
For a few years, everything was fine with their relationship. Things still seem good, but there were no public controversies kind of spoiling things. The only major event was when Morgan was seen wearing Emily Ratajkowski’s face mask, which wasn’t a bad thing by any means. It just made a lot of fashion enthusiasts to pay close attention to Taylor and Morgan’s relationship, since the video of her at his game went viral.
However, over time, Morgan has definitely caused a stir among Taylor’s biggest fans. When Taylor won the Australian Open, Morgan looked unimpressed and unenthusiastic. While that controversy made some waves, that was just a sign of things to come.
What Has Made Morgan Riddle So Famous?
For those who only know who Taylor is, they might be curious as to what made Morgan so famous in the first place. Morgan herself is a TikTok and Instagram influencer, who dated Thomas Petrou from the incredibly famous Hype House. The house from the show now hits the market for $50,000 per month. Morgan, however, didn’t spend much time with Thomas in that house, as their relationship only lasted a few months. After that was when she started seeing Taylor.
As of right now, Morgan has 300,000 followers on TikTok. Her Instagram account has well over 100,000 followers, and both of those counts will certainly continue to grow in the future.
For a long time, Morgan was mostly known for her TikTok and Instagram pursuits. She kept her relationship with Taylor pretty private and low-key, but unfortunately, things have recently gotten too out of hand.
Fans can be eagle-eyed when it comes to their favorite things. For instance, some of Friend’s most hardcore fans caught the show using fake Rachel’s (as in, Jennifer Aniston stand-ins). And, as Taylor and Morgan are seen at Taylor’s games more, fans have no excuse to not look for Morgan.

As mentioned previously, Morgan got in some trouble with fans because of her seeming disinterest in Taylor’s professional endeavors. It was a bit baffling, as in 2022’s Break Point series, Morgan was celebrating when Taylor defeated tennis icon Rafael Nadal at the 2022 Indian Wells Masters. Taylor and Morgan claimed their relationship was akin to a team, referencing the fact that they really need each other in their lives.
Then, in an insanely viral 2022 TikTok video, Morgan announced her personal life mission – she wanted to make tennis “cool again”. Any fan of tennis would immediately cringe at hearing that, as the sport isn’t exactly uncool by any means.
How can a sport that boasts the likes of Venus and Serena Williams be uncool?
The chaos got so out of hand and viral that Taylor had to publicly back his girlfriend up. During one of Taylor’s many Indian Well’s press conferences, he explained what Morgan meant and essentially defended her. He didn’t shy away from the press, either, and doubled down on her words. He stated that it was “cool” for her to say what she said, even if fans don’t exactly agree with that sentiment.
His biggest way to silence the critics was by using his profession as a tennis player as a shield. If he’s a pro and he doesn’t have a problem with Morgan’s sentiment, why should anyone else?
That’s not to say that Taylor or Morgan truly think tennis is uncool. That may be how it comes across to many people, but Taylor made it seem that Morgan just wants to take the sport to new heights. Tennis really isn’t that big in the Gen Z landscape of TikTok and Instagram.
However, with celebs like Morgan getting involved in the sport, maybe younger audiences will pay more attention. Celebrities like Dakota Fanning have admitted to playing tennis, and she’s not the only one. Gigi Hadid once practiced tennis with Serena Williams…well, if practice counts as Mario Tennis, that is.
Then there are the older stars like Nadal and Novak Djokovic, who are still playing to this day. Venus and Serena, sadly, are finally done playing. Serena even gave an interview with People and has said she’s moving on to bigger and better things, cementing the finish of her career.
