- What Happened After The Roloff Farm Was Put On The Market?
Throughout the years, many episodes of Little People, Big World have revolved around Roloff Farms. A thriving business that has helped the Roloff family accumulate a lot of riches, running the farm has also been a lot of work.
Once Matt and Amy Roloff got divorced, a lot changed including he became the sole owner of the farm. Keeping in mind that Matt is getting older, it seemed like only a matter of time before the farm changed hands.
Since Jeremy and Zach Roloff have made it clear that they were both interested in the family business, many people assumed one of them would eventually buy the farm. Once it became clear that wasn’t going to be the case, however, fans were left wondering why the Roloff farm wasn’t going to one of Matt’s children.
Why Matt Roloff Didn’t Sell The Farm To One Of His Kids
When people invest in stocks or bonds, there always is a possibility that they will lose their shirts. However, one thing that always seems to retain its value over time is land. After all, the real estate market may fall apart one year, but it always seems to come back and surpass where it was in the past.
Keeping in mind the value of real estate, that alone makes it clear that the Roloff family farm is worth a lot of money. When you then factor in the fact that the Roloff farm is famous all over the world thanks to Little People, Big World, there was a lot of money to be made from selling it.
Still, when it was learned that Matt Roloff had put part of his farm up on the open market instead of selling it to one of his kids, many people were shocked. In fact, some fans even thought that Matt’s decision was some kind of betrayal.
Even though the truth is that what Matt does with his property isn’t any random viewer’s business, some fans even went so far as express their outrage over the situation to the Roloff patriarch on social media.
In response to one of those angry fans, Matt replied on Instagram that his kids “all had more than enough … and very fair chances” to buy the farm.
While Matt didn’t elaborate, some observers took that comment to mean that the Roloff kids expected to buy the farm for cheap and wouldn’t pay a fair market price. Other fans thought that the kids were outraged at the idea of Matt breaking his property up into multiple lots and only selling them part of the overall land. In both cases, those fans were engaging in conjecture.
Of course, there is no way for Little People, Big World fans to know exactly what happened behind the scenes. However, assuming Matt was telling the truth, it seems the Roloff kids had the chance to buy the farm but couldn’t make the deal.
