On Bravo’s hit new series, Next Gen NYC, viewers are invited into the lives of fan-favorite Real Housewives’ children along with their close-knit circle of friends as they carve out their own career paths in a city that never sleeps. The show explores what is really means to grow up in the spotlight while trying to make a name for yourself in New York City.

Two of the standout stars on Next Gen NYC are Riley Burruss, daughter of Real Housewives of Atlanta veteran Kandi Burruss, and Ariana Biermann, daughter of former RHOA cast member Kim Zolciak. As they face real-life challenges as adults in the Big Apple, the two also have one major challenge in common: navigating the long-standing feud between their mothers.

Ariana Biermann And Riley Burruss Want To Help Their Moms Reconnect

Kandi Burruss And Kim Zolciak Feuded Over A Song

Ariana Biermann and Riley Burruss are hoping to do what once seemed impossible: get their moms to make amends. After years of tension and no communication between Real Housewives of Atlanta stars Kim Zolciak and Kandi Burruss, the daughters’ growing bond in New York City could be the unexpected bridge between the two former friends.

Now that Ariana and Riley have rekindled their connection and formed a close friendship while living side by side in the Big Apple, it may only be a matter of time before their mothers are forced to come face-to-face, whether they’re ready or not.

In a recent interview with Bravo’s Daily Dish, both Ariana and Riley spoke about their mom’s drama, which primarily revolves around money from a song called “Tardy for the Party.”

“But I know my mom wants to, you know, reconnect and we all want to do like a dinner or something together,” Riley said. Ariana added that they all need to be in New York at the same time to make this happen, hoping that she and Riley could be the ones to help them find a place of peace and reconnection.

“I feel like we could definitely bring them and reconnect them together,” she shared.

What Happened Between Kim Zolciak And Kandi Burruss?

As previously mentioned, the RHOA stars’ long-time feud stems all the way back to when Kim released her 2010 song “Tardy for the Party.” According to Bravo, Kandi produced and co-wrote the song that became a hit with Bravo fans, but she claimed she was never properly compensated for her work on the tune. In 2013, Kandi sued Kim for copyright infringement, but the case was later dismissed.

Kandi would claim that Kim took advantage of her. Meanwhile, Kim believed that she did not owe her co-star a dime. In fact, the women also fought over baby names with Kandi stating that Kim stole the name she wanted for her future child.

It appears that the women have not spoken much since the song fallout. However, in an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Kandi shared that she and Kim “don’t have a beef.”

“No, we don’t [have beef], because the last time I saw her, she was extremely nice, and she was acting like I was coming up to her. She was saying, ‘Oh girl, come on, let’s hug, that was so long ago.’ She was saying that to me, and I was glad to reciprocate because I don’t have a wish to keep that going, you know what I’m saying?'”

So, having Ariana and Riley try to get their moms to reconcile won’t be an easy feat, especially since they must overcome over a decade’s worth of public feuds and legal battles.

Although Ariana and Riley both grew up in the spotlight on their mother’s reality TV show, their childhood friendships didn’t quite stand the test of time. The two gradually drifted apart as they got older, and it didn’t help that their moms weren’t getting along.

Now, with both women in their 20s and living in New York City, life has brought them full circle. They have reconnected on the show and found that there is comfort in having a familiar face from back home, just a subway ride away.

In an episode of the show, Riley meets Ariana for the first time since being apart for many years. Before they do, Riley calls her mom for advice. “You used to be besties,” Kandi tells her. When Riley asks her mom why she and Kim stopped communicating, Kandi doesn’t say much, telling her daughter, “It’s not your business.” However, she does seem happy to hear that her daughter is reconnecting with Ariana.

“Hopefully you guys can reconnect and be friends again,” Kandi tells Riley.

Meanwhile, Ariana shares to the cameras that she is “super excited to reconnect with Kandi.” But, she adds she had not seen her since they were eight-years-old. “It feels weirder because we do know each other, but we don’t at the same time,” she says.

Meeting for the first time in years, Riley lets Ariana know that their mom’s rift isn’t something that should interfere with their own friendship. “Our mom’s stuff, is not our stuff,” Ariana tells her.

In another scene, we also see Ariana having lunch with Riley and Riley’s parents. Ariana admits that she and Riley have been glued to the hip since the former moved to the Big Apple.

“I think I’ve been with Riley every single day since I moved her,” Ariana begins. Kandi looks shocked as she states, “Wow, are you serious?” To which Ariana replies, “Yes, she’s literally my best friend. You are my favorite part of New York.”

In an interview with Us Weekly, Ariana shared that her show will focus on her and her friends “come into our own as adults.”

“I feel like it’s going to be really exciting to see kind of all of us come into our own as adults. When our moms were on Housewives, we were kids. A lot of the time, people still think I’m 12 years old. They’re like, ‘Why are you wearing a bikini? I’m like, ‘Girl, I’m 23, OK? I’m actually grown up now.’ So, I feel like it’s going to be a lot of fun to see all of our friendships blossom and see us navigate New York. At least for me, I’m new here,” she shared.
