Winona Ryder isn’t planning to get Botox — even if directors are recommending it to her.

Ryder, 52, opened up about people advising her to get Botox while chatting with Elle in a cover story published Wednesday, July 23. After sharing that female directors have urged the actress to try the facial injections, Ryder shared, “They’ll say, ‘Just relax your forehead. Relax,’” while she’s acting.

“I’m trying to be a great actor, and they’re saying that over and over,” Ryder said of her facial expressions. “It’s nice that people are talking about how it’s OK to age, but there’s still enormous pressure. Every role I get is for a mother, you know? My career has definitely shifted.”

Ryder previously opened up about not wanting to get plastic surgery in 2016, telling Net-a-Porter’s The Edit that she “loves” getting older.

Ryder, 52, told Slash Film in an interview published Sunday, August 25, that she hadn’t considered the […]

“I think it has to do with always being the kid on set,” she explained of her early career start. “It’s interesting because, these days, [cosmetic surgery] is treated almost like hygiene. I’ve had people say to me, ‘Oh, you should, you know … ‘ and they point to my forehead. ‘Get that seen to!’ But I’m like, ‘No! I’ve been waiting so long for that to happen!’”

She continued, “I know actresses have a tough time because of their age — they’re just not getting hired.” Ryder explained that one day you’re playing a “girlfriend” in a movie and the next you’re old enough to be “the mother.”
