Salma Hayek was recently spotted indulging in a cigarette while navigating through Los Angeles traffic on Monday, suggesting she hasn’t entirely given up the habit.
The 57-year-old Magic Mike star was seen sporting stylish black sunglasses and a navy top during her outing.
With her hair elegantly styled in an updo, Hayek was observed tossing the cigarette out of her car window before continuing on her way.
Interestingly, Hayek’s relationship with smoking began when she portrayed the iconic Mexican painter Frida Kahlo in a biographical film, a role that necessitated her to take up smoking.
Reflecting on the experience, she once shared, “I hated cigarettes, but I had to learn how to smoke for the movie. Initially, I was using some terrible, old Mexican cigarettes without filters because that’s what [Frida Kahlo] used to smoke.”

‘So, at the beginning, I used to throw up after a couple of scenes and then I actually got addicted to that thing that I hated so much.Â
‘I stopped (for) two years when I was pregnant and I was breastfeeding. Thank God I breastfed for so long because it kept me away from the cigarettes.’Â
Salma did previously try to quit, telling Marie Claire in 2007: ‘It’s the s***iest vice you could possibly pick. I’ve tried to quit before. But this time I’m done with it. I’ve changed.’Â
It comes after the Mexican beauty celebrated her 15th wedding anniversary to billionaire businessman Francois-Henri Pinault on Valentine’s Day.
Salma and the 61-year-old CEO of Kerring – who has a reported net worth of $7 billion – got engaged in March 2007.Â
After a nearly two-year engagement, they tied the knot in Paris on February 14, 2009, renewing their vows just a few months later in Italy.Â
The Desperado star shared an undated black-and-white snap on her Instagram post, expressing her love for Francois. ‘After 18 years together and 15 years of marriage, you still make loving you easy, fun, deep and fresh like a gentle breeze. Happy anniversary mi amor.’
The Oscar-nominated actress most recently starred in Magic Mike’s Last Dance and an 2023 episode of Black Mirror.
She is also starring in Angelina Jolie’s next film as a director, Without Blood, which is in post-production.
She stars alongside Demian Bichir in the war drama, though plot details are being kept under wraps.Â
