Sophie Turner Confirms Relationship with Aristocrat Peregrine Pearson

Sophie Turner has stepped into the limelight with her new beau, British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson, confirming their burgeoning romance with a public display of affection this week. The 27-year-old Game of Thrones star, who is amidst divorce proceedings with musician Joe Jonas, was seen warmly embracing the media heir, whose family boasts a staggering net worth exceeding £224 million ($280 million). This confirms swirling rumors since October of the pair’s involvement, marking a new chapter for Sophie after her relationship with 34-year-old Jonas Brother member Joe.

Peregrine, often referred to as Perry, hails from a renowned lineage, being the firstborn of Michael Pearson, the 4th Viscount Cowdray. His family’s wealth stems largely from the prominent Pearson media empire. Sophie’s own net worth, impressive at an estimated £10 million ($12 million), is dwarfed by Perry’s family fortunes. Despite growing up in more humble surrounds—the daughter of Sally, a nursery school teacher, and Andrew Turner, who worked in pallet distribution—Sophie’s role as Sansa Stark from the tender age of 13 has catapulted her into a notable career and financial success, supplemented by various film and modeling campaigns.

The Turner family moved to Chesterton, Warwickshire, when Sophie was just two, where she enjoyed her formative years. She attended Warwick Prep School until age 11 and subsequently enrolled at The King’s High School for Girls, where tuition now ranges from £7,250 ($9,000) to £8,630 ($10,000) per term. Sophie and Perry’s recent affectionate displays during a Thursday evening stroll suggest the couple is wholeheartedly embracing their relationship. Peregrine, 29, has recently exited a relationship with Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark, suggesting both he and Sophie are in tune with fresh starts.

Their open affection hints at newfound solace together post-breakup. The couple was spotted tenderly exchanging hugs and kisses as they leisurely walked, with Sophie dressed warmly in a grey hoodie, black coat, and a green beanie, complemented by gloves. Peregrine matched her cozy look, wearing a fur-trimmed coat, woolly scarf, and hat. As they walked closely, Perry lovingly draped his arm over Sophie, solidifying their evident comfort and connection in each other’s company.

Sophie’s initial public appearance with Peregrine was at the Rugby World Cup in France last October, where they shared a kiss near Gare du Nord station. The couple temporarily separated into different chauffeur-driven cars before later reconvening at Stade de France, where Sophie played a key role in revealing the Rugby World Cup trophy. An observer, according to The Sun, noted their arrival at the chauffeur pick-up in a jovial and affectionate manner, implying they might have traveled together from London. The onlooker described Perry removing his hat to give Sophie a heartfelt kiss before going their separate ways.

 Just hours after the kiss, Sophie was seen smiling as she and Peregrine both arrived ahead of the Rugby World Cup Final between New Zealand and South Africa. Sophie walked a few steps ahead of the aristocrat, dubbed Britain’s ‘most eligible bachelor’, before going on to the pitch to unveil the Webb Ellis cup. The kiss came one month after Sophie’s ex Joe, who she shares daughters Willa, three, and Delphine, 16 months, with, filed for divorce and the pair reached a temporary custody agreement. 

Peregrine has a £5million ($6m) house in Chelsea while his father owns a mansion in West Sussex with 22 bedrooms and 16,500 acres, including ten polo pitches. Peregrine had been dating Olympia, a 27-year-old model, but it emerged in September that they had gone their separate ways after ‘growing apart’. 

Last month, it was revealed by MailOnline that Olympia was in a romantic relationship with married celebrity chef Thomas Straker (pictured with his wife). After the relationship came to light, Straker’s wife kicked him out of their marital home. Friends of Straker and his wife Davina who have two daughters aged four and two, said she was ‘devastated’ to be told of his infidelity in October. The cookery star who has 4.5million social media followers was photographed with Olympia, outside her home earlier this month.

Pearson’s ancestral estate is home to Cowdray Park Polo Club, which boasts ten pitches and hosts more than 450 matches each year. The prestigious club hosts the annual Gold Cup, where both Prince William and Prince Harry have played. The Gold Cup is polo’s most prestigious European event. The main Cowdray House, bought in 1908 by Peregrine’s great-great-grandfather Weetman Dickinson Pearson, has 120 acres of formal gardens and woodland. The house was a replacement for a Tudor manor built by the Montague family, which burnt down in 1793. In 2009, Lord and Lady Cowdray reportedly decided to put the estate on the market for £25million ($31m), but decided they couldn’t part with the property and instead started hosting luxury events there, with Cowdray Hall now serving as a wellness center. 

Cowdray Hall offers spiritual workshops, retreats and weekly classes, and features a chapel used for yoga, Pilates and meditation. Peregrine previously admitted that despite being the heir to the sprawling estate, which also features a farm shop and café, he does not play polo himself. He told the Daily Telegraph in 2018: ‘I’m getting lessons, I grew up riding and over the next few years it’s something I can see myself doing a lot more.’ 

The publication also reported that Peregrine was taking a more active role in running the estate and was shadowing chief executive Jonathan Russell to learn about the intricacies of the polo club. ‘It’s great to be able to observe it from a distance and see what my future role is going to be,’ Peregrine said. Peregrine’s own children will not grow up on the Cowdray Estate due to it being transformed into an events venue, but Peregrine said he isn’t upset at the prospect as he looked towards the future. ‘Having heard the stress of managing these type of houses, it’s the perfect compromise,’ he told the Telegraph. 

‘The house is still an important part of the community and a valuable employer, without costing us money to run. And I still have the luxury of using it when I like.’ Peregrine began dating his ex Olympia in 2020, but friends began whispering about the state of their relationship when Peregrine was conspicuous by his absence at the Chelsea-based model’s 27th birthday party in July.

After their split, Olympia, the only daughter of Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece and his wife, Marie-Chantal Miller, ‘unfollowed’ Peregrine on Instagram. She also deleted all traces of him on her account on the picture-sharing app. ‘They grew apart,’ a source told the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden at the time. ‘Their friends and family were hoping their union would lead to marriage, but it wasn’t meant to be.’ 

Olympia’s grandfather is King Constantine, a relation of the late Prince Philip, who was exiled from Greece following the 1967 coup. The family continue to use their royal titles decades after the abolition of the monarchy. The couple had not been seen in public together since November 2022, and did not holiday together this year after three consecutive summers of doing so. Instead, the Princess visited Italy and Greece with family and friends including actress Poppy Delevingne, who has been linked to her brother Prince Constantine Alexios. Meanwhile, Peregrine spent his summer with pals in Cow Neck, New York state, as well as in Spain with family. He also went to the Burning Man festival in Nevada. 

However, Olympia looked far from downcast as she spent time with celebrity chef Straker. Olympia and Straker, who runs a restaurant in Notting Hill, appeared to be joking and laughing as they walked down the street together. Preferring to stay out of the spotlight, Peregrine’s Instagram is private and is followed by Jamie Redknapp and Olivia Bentley. Sophie is now listed among his followers. 

In August, it emerged that Peregrine’s father Lord Cowdray and his wife Marina, the Viscountess Cowdray, had separated after 36 years of marriage. ‘It’s highly acrimonious,’ a family friend claimed to the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden at the time. ‘Marina has walked out of the marriage. Michael [the viscount] is devastated. The New Age stuff has changed her.’ Marina, the daughter of late Tory MP John Cordle, was Michael’s second wife. He was previously married to Fritzi (Ellen) Erhardt, the daughter of a German industrialist. 

As well as Peregrine, the couple also have a daughter Eliza Pearson, 35, who married Ned Rocknroll – who changed his surname from Abel Smith – in 2009. Princess Beatrice was among the guests at the open-air pagan wedding ceremony led by a druid, but the pair went their separate ways just years later. Ned, a nephew of Virgin billionaire Sir Richard Branson, went on to marry actress Kate Winslet in 2012 and the couple are still together. Meanwhile, Eliza went on to marry Norwegian financier Leif Kvaal and they have three children together, according to Tatler.
