The Walking Dead Show

Some show last several seasons and take viewers on a journey. At the same time, others take you with them on a journey. The Walking Dead falls into the latter camp, drawing fans into a story that has dragged on for over a decade. But, unfortunately, all stories come to an end someday. Developed by Frank Darabont and based on the comic book series of the same name, this American post-apocalyptic horror series launched on AMC in 2010, sparking a multi-year boom in the subgenre.

Although the title inspired by the show’s success was quickly buried, it lived on and recently ended with Season 11 Episode 24 on Sunday, November 20, 2022, marking the end of an era. But, of course, End of the Road prompted audiences to think about the fate of certain characters. What happened to Rosita in The Walking Dead series finale?

What Happened To Rosita In The Walking Dead

Christian Serratos’ Rosita Espinosa tragically died in the series finale after doing whatever it took to save her daughter Coco. In her last few installments, she went above and beyond for her child, but after trying to carry her pipe to safety, she threw herself into a horde of walkers. Fell into the undead but managed to break free from her hideous mass of body.

Still, she did not escape unscathed and was found to have had her neck bitten, sealing her unfortunate fate. It’s only natural for her to succumb to her illness, but she manages to get out most touchingly. Ultimately, she can die in bed with her beloved Eugene. “I’m glad it was you in the end,” she says, succumbing to her illness peacefully. Eugene is tasked with ending her own life before she turns away.

Rosita Walking Dead Death Scene

This may surprise fans, but Rosita’s emotional ending is Christian’s idea, not the writer’s. She explained the decision in her recent conversation with Entertainment Weekly: “One of the things that I loved about [The Walking Dead] was that it made me emotional. It tugged at your heartstrings. People constantly say, ‘Oh gosh, I don’t know. It’s a show about walkers or a little sci-fi.’ And people and fans argue that there are other premises of the show. It is about family, heart, survival, and what you’ll do for your loved ones. “She continues. She continued: “… And I just wanted people to have that emotional experience in our finale, especially. I think a show that was about possibly losing your loved ones, you want to lose somebody at the end. I know it sounds so dark, but I feel like the show, we owed it to the fans to break their hearts one last time if that makes sense.” Regarding the breakup situation, Christian essentially argues that it had to happen that way. “I think it became that she died saving her daughter kind of midway through the season,” she explained. “It started to make sense that the only way she could go was dying saving Coco.”
