Dad shoots dead stranger who broke into family’s home and threatened his daughter on Father’s Day

A father-of-three fatally shot a stranger who broke into his family’s home and savagely threatened his 11-year-old daughter while she played with her siblings in the garden on Father’s Day.

Police said the suspect entered the backyard of the home where the children were playing outside, before he attempted to accost the girl, with the frightened kids then running in to tell their parents.

The 23-year-old suspect tried to follow the children inside and brutally shook the door handle, leading to the homeowner fatally shooting the intruder.

Police Chief A.Z. Williams said the case appears to be one of a father protecting his family.

The sheriff’s office said the homeowner fully cooperated with detectives and was not placed under arrest.

The incident took place at the 100 block of Parker Street in Wilson’s Mills, ABC11 reports.

The identity of the suspect has not yet been released.

Williams said the family did not know the attacker.

He told ABC11 that this was one of the first violent incidents in his five years with the department.

The sheriff’s office processed the scene and is investigating the incident.
