People wonder if Jayson Williams is still in jail after murdering a limo driver.
Former NBA All-Star Jayson Williams was charged on May 1, 2002, with several offenses, including aggravated manslaughter, about the February 14 shooting death of limo driver Costas Christofi at Williams’ estate.
From 1990 to 1999, Williams had a productive NBA career with the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Nets before being forced to retire due to a leg injury. Williams was praised for taking in his nephews after two of his sisters passed away from AIDS, even though he had several run-ins with the law. Williams was more well-known for his friendly demeanor and off-court charity and youth work.

Jayson Williams is not in jail as of 2022.
Williams, who was ultimately sentenced to 27 months in prison, is now an advocate for addiction recovery and the creator of a program called Rebound at Futures Recovery Health Care in Florida.
Jayson claims that he makes an effort every day to enhance his own life and the lives of those around him.

What Did Jayson Williams Do? Accident Update
At the latter’s New Jersey home, Jayson Williams shot Costas Christofi, his limo driver, in 2002. While demonstrating a 12-gauge shotgun to friends, Williams neglected to check the weapon properly; as he turned to face Christofi, who was nearby, he snapped the barrel shut, causing the gun to Fire.

Williams attempted to make it appear that Christofi had shot himself after being shot. His attorney argued that the shooting was an accident and the attempt at deception resulted from panic.
Jayson admitted guilt to aggravated assault in 2010. Jayson, according to the daughters, never expressed regret for the incident’s consequences to them. According to Whizdom, she knew that she couldn’t alter her Father’s character or how he felt about or treated her.
Williams admitted to having been sober for more than three years to The Washington Post in 2019 and expressed regret over his relationship with his daughters.
When his children told him that he had not put in enough time to be their Father, he admitted that he had realized he hadn’t been in their lives.
Williams still has a DWI case pending in New York due to an incident last month in Manhattan where he allegedly cut across several lanes of traffic while driving drunk and crashed his car into a tree.
Having reportedly turned his own troubled life around in recent years, Christofi was hired by Williams for the evening of February 13, 2002, to transport guests in a van to a Harlem Globetrotters game at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.
Jayson Williams Apologized To His Family
Williams also expressed his regret to his family, saying, “Please forgive me for the pain I caused you. I will be eligible for parole in just 18 months. You should have a better brother, Father, and son than I have been.”
His long-standing alcohol abuse, which included downing liquor shots the night of Christofi’s death, was repeatedly mentioned during the sentencing hearing in a Somerville, NJ, courtroom. Williams said, “To my community, church, and NBA friends, I regret letting you down.”

Christofi’s sister, Andrea Adams, objected to his sentence, which was anticipated under a plea agreement Williams set in motion with his guilty plea last month. Andrea Adams had a letter read aloud by a prosecutor.
