Anna Haugh Biography – Anna Haugh Wiki

Anna Haugh is an Irish chef, restaurateur and television presenter. The Tallaght native is the host of Anna Haugh’s Big Irish Food Tour on the BBC, as well as MasterChef alongside food critic Grace Dent. She is the founder and owner of Myrtle restaurant and The Wee Sister Wine Bar in Chelsea, London.

The youngest of four children, Anna grew up in Ireland surrounded by a family who loved cooking and food played a central role in the Haugh household. Her mother, a PA at UCD, was a keen cook who focussed on buying ingredients of the highest quality and her father, a FAS trainer, was always keen to try different dishes. Given her parents’ passion for food, it’s unsurprising Haugh grew up to become a top chef.

Anna has been cooking professionally for almost 20 years. She started her apprenticeship in L’Ecrivain in Dublin before she went to work in Paris for Gualtiero Marchesi. When Anna moved to London, she worked with Shane Osborn at Michelin-starred Pied a Terre, Philip Howard at The Square and then was head chef in the opening of London House for Gordon Ramsay.

In 2019 Anna opened her fine dining Irish restaurant, Myrtle, which offers a warm fáilte and delicious food inspired by Ireland and its producers. The name was inspired by legendary Irish chef Myrtle Allen, founder of famous restaurant and food hub Ballymaloe House in Cork.

Anna is a regular chef on BBC One’s Morning Live. She is also host and regular guest chef on BBC One’s Saturday Kitchen; and one on the main chefs on BBC’s Ready Steady Cook. She took part in season 2 of Snackmasters on Channel 4 and three series of BBC One’s Royal Recipes.

MasterChef

Anna is the new host of MasterChef alongside food critic Grace Dent after Gregg Wallace and John Torode were sacked. She replaced Wallace in the final episodes of the 2025 MasterChef amateurs series, as that’s when the allegations against him first emerged during filming in November.

She said: “I’m delighted to be back on MasterChef and judging alongside the wonderful Grace Dent, whose writing and wit I’ve admired for years. MasterChef has long inspired and resonated with cooks in home kitchens and of course in my industry. I can’t wait to get into the studio for what will be a great competition.”

The BBC also confirmed that chef and television presenter Matt Tebbutt will replace Wallace as a judge on the next series of MasterChef: The Professionals. The Saturday Kitchen host will join Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti on the programme.
