Barbara Morse Biography
Barbara Morse is an American journalist who is currently working as an anchor and Health Check reporter at NBC10 News. She anchors the station’s Noon newscasts and joined the station in June 1995. Prior to joining her current station, she worked as a weekend general assignment reporter at WISH-TV in Indianapolis, a television news anchor/reporter at WLVI-TV in Boston.
In addition, she worked as a general assignment reporter at WLNE-TV in Providence and also worked as a news reporter at WAND in Decatur. Throughout her career, she has received a number of awards and Emmy nominations. She was nominated for Emmy Awards in 1993, 1999, 2001, 2008, and 2004. Barbara also won an Associated Press Award in 2008 for her report on the shaken baby syndrome.
Furthermore, in 2019, she was inducted into the prestigious Silver Circle, one of the highest honors given by the National Academy of Arts & Science in New England for her dedication to mentoring and volunteering. Besides all this, she is an active member of the community, spending much of her free time volunteering for nonprofit organizations in his area.
Over the years, she has received numerous awards from organizations, including A Wish Come True, The Tomorrow Fund, the Rhode Island Blood Center, the Rhode Island Black Nurses’ Association, among others. She spent her early years in Detroit before moving to Indianapolis.
In relation to her formal credentials, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in speech communications from Indiana University. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and is the immediate past president of the Southern New England Association of Black Journalists.
