Kyren Lacy Attorney Matthew Ory
Louisiana Attorney Matthew Ory is representing former LSU football star Kyren Lacy. Lacy died in April 2025 in Houston, months after State Police arrested him for causing a deadly crash. In an interview with HTV 10, Matt disputed Louisiana State Police’s statements that his client was at fault in the crash.
During the interview with HTV’s Martin Folse published on October 3, 2025, Lacy’s attorney, Matthew Ory, said there was no way Lacy could have been responsible for the crash that killed Herman Hall. The interview on HTV also includes body camera video of a state trooper instructing a witness on what to write in a report.
During the HTV interview, Ory pointed to a portion in the report, attributing it to the District Attorney’s office, saying, “The evidence submitted in the crash report does not support that Kyren Lacy should have known that his actions were the cause of the crash that happened approximately 72 yards in front of him.”
On October 3, 2025, LSP issued the following statement: “Following the crash, LSP conducted a detailed investigation with the assistance of crash reconstruction experts and with all available information at the time. Investigative findings revealed that Mr. Lacy’s reckless driving while approaching oncoming traffic led to the events of the crash.
“The findings were presented to the 17th Judicial District Court, which approved an arrest warrant based on the evidence collected. As with all investigations leading to arrest, the subjects of the investigation are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
