Carol “Pui Man” Li, 51, is a bridal designer, baker and a contestant on The Great British Bake Off (GBBO) 2025. Born in Hong Kong, Pui Man rediscovered baking during lockdown and hasn’t looked back. Her bakes are as beautiful as they are bold, and she practices endlessly to make sure her creations are as close to perfection as possible.
Pui Man volunteers three evenings a week, collecting surplus food from supermarkets and distributing it within her community. When she does find time for herself, you’ll find her knitting with a pint, in the pub with her friend.

Bridal designer Carol “Pui Man” Li is a contestant on the 16th season of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4. The bakers of GBBO 2025 will be competing against each other in the famous baking tent, under the watchful eyes of judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, alongside hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding.
Pui Man revealed the news on Instagram: “After keeping quiet for ages, I can proudly say I baked in the legendary Bake Off tent. It was an absolutely amazing experience, and it was the hardest thing I had ever done.”
Pui Man has applied for Bake Off four times before getting the call-up from the show’s producers. While the other bakers may dream of a Hollywood handshake, Pui Man’s got her eye on the show’s first ever Hollywood hug.
Speaking about joining the show, Pui Man said she is “good at everything I have known and practised,” but as a perfectionist, she gets frustrated when things are not immaculate.
She added: “I dreamed about myself in the tent all the time and I dreamed about meeting some ex-bakers all the time. I was at home when I got the phone call from one of the team, and I was shocked because I had applied four times and no success in the past.”
After the announcement, she wrote on Instagram: “The secret’s out! After keeping quiet for ages, I can proudly say I baked in the legendary Bake Off tent. It was an absolutely amazing experience, and it was the hardest thing I had ever done.”
