Derek Dixon is an American actor and playwright. He is best known for his role as Dale on the television series “The Oval,” a BET political drama starring Brad Benedict and Kron Moore. He also starred in Ruthless.
Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Dixon moved to New York City to study at Marymount Manhattan College and acting at the The Terry Schreiber Studio. After studying acting, Dixon began his career in theater, performing in plays like The Lion in Winter, Romeo and Juliet, and The Boys In The Band.
Dixon has written several full-length plays, including Homewrecker, Red Snow, Pictures of People, Work of Art and Green Light, according to Essential Theatre. He joined Working Title Playwrights in 2015.

The Oval actor Derek Dixon is suing Tyler Perry for $260 million for sexual harassment, assault and battery. According to the lawsuit, which was filed on Friday in a Los Angeles court, Dixon met Perry in 2019, when Dixon worked for an event company that had organized a party for the filmmaker. The two exchanged numbers, and Perry initially offered him career advancement, Dixon said via the New York Times.
Matthew Boyd, an attorney for Perry, denied the allegations in a statement and called the lawsuit a “scam.”
“This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam,” his attorney Matthew Boyd told the BBC. “But Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.”
